Also I am a member of the IUP ROTC program, US Army Reserve, Lower Burrell Vol. Fire Dept., and Rho Tau Chi (a military service fraternity affiliated with the 1UP ROTC). Upon graduation I plan to commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Active Duty component of the US Army. From there I plan to finish in the military until retirement. (Timothy was recommended by Branch Manager Joseph Berei) Brandon Corless, member of Branch 151 ; I am a junior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Pre- Chiropractic. After my undergraduate studies I aspire to continue my chiropractic education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and eventually open my own chiropractic clinic. I have been a lifelong member of Chippewa United Methodist Church in Beaver Falls, PA where 1 am currently a member of the Chancel Choir. Before high school graduation, I was an active member in Youth Choir and the youth group. I have participated in many community charities, such as Habitat for Humanity and highway clean-up. After attending our church camps as a camper for seven years, 1 felt led to serve as a camp counselor for the past 3 years. This coming summer, 1 will be continuing as a counselor as well as being the dean of my own camp session. In high school I was a member of the wrestling team. Through wrestling, I was fortunate to become acquainted with Joseph and Margaret Fabri. I enjoyed having Joe as a wrestling coach and soon became a member of the HRFA. 1 have learned much about Hungarian culture through the years. I interviewed Joe for a project in high school, where he told me many stories about life in Hungary as well as shared various recipes with me. I have also attended Branch 15 Us annual picnics. At the picnics 1 was able to experience many Hungarian customs and traditions. 1 would like to thank Joe and Peg Fabri for recommending me for this scholarship as well as the HRFA for this generous contribution towards furthering my college education. (Brandon was recommended by Director Joe Fabri) MeLinda Dezee, Member of branch 22: Imagine having a problem that seems to be too big to control and feeling trapped in a dark word of loneness and depression. Who do you talk to? Who do you confide in and how do you make this problem go away? Many Americans face struggles like this everyday and more and more people are seeking professional help through a counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist. My name is MeLinda DeZee and 1 am a psychology major at Kent State University. 1 have chosen this field because I like to help people and the study of the human mind has always fascinated me. I am pursuing a career in clinical psychology and work as a therapist to assist people with deep emotional and psychological issues. I intend to work with a wide range of people from children to adults in a private practice. I plan on attending graduate school after receiving my bachelor degree and will eventually obtain a PhD in psychology. I have also declared a minor in sociology in order to better understand society’s influence on the individual and how culture impacts the thought process. I am hoping to become a member of the psychology club at the university in the fall of my junior year. I also wish to become a volunteer at the psychological clinic also run by the university. 1 have been a member of Rockview Christian Church for about ten years and grew up with a strong belief in God. This has taught me many things over my life and has helped steer me in the right direction. I have participated in Christian organizations on campus as well. The world is a constantly changing place and adjusting to the environment and society can cause stress for anyone. Many people also are faced with traumatic events and for many psychotherapy is one way to resolve things healthily. 1 wish to be able to help all those I can as a psychologist and will be empathic to all situations and people who seek advice. I believe God put everyone here for a different purpose and I believe I have found mine and have the ambition and drive to accomplish these goals. (MeLinda was recommended by Director John K. Morey) Devin Walsh, member of branch 151: My name is Devin Walsh, and I am a junior at Clarion University. I am studying Communication & Mass Media Technology and hope to work for an advertising agency in the future. I am very inspired by the psychological power of advertising, and I am anxiously waiting to explore it as a career. I was introduced to the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America by Joe and Peggy Fabri years ago, and have been a member for five years, a part of branch 151.1 have known the Fabri’s for years, growing up in the same church they attended. I have always looked up to Joe, not only because he was once an Olympic wrestler for Hungary, but also because he is a strong, devoted Christian. My family and I have since moved from that original church that I grew up in, and now attend New Brighton Christian Assembly. Luckily, that is also the same church that the Fabri’s attend. It is nice to see them when I am home, and I am very thankful for this recommendation. I would also like to thank the Hungarian Reformed Federation for this generous financial assistance. Words cannot express how much it helps. (Devin was recommended by Director Joe Fabri) Page 38 Fraternity - Testvériség
