STUDENT AID RECIPIENTS As one of its many fraternal benefits, the HRFA offers a one-time financial assistance of $600 to our young members who are pursuing a college education. It is intended that this scholarship be applied towards the cost of tuition, fees, books, or room and board. All students who fulfill the following requirements may apply: • Must be a member of the HRFA for at least five years immediately preceding the date of application for the scholarship. He or she must be a member in good standing, i.e., applicant’s policy is not lapsed or matured. Policy must be whole life. • Should be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate day student in an accredited four-year college or university. The scholarship is not available to first-year college students. It is only granted to those who are in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th years and have earned good grades for the courses completed. Graduate students are also encouraged to apply. The applicant should contact his or her Branch Manager or the Home Office to receive an application form. Once this form is completed, the applicant should send it to the Branch Manager or the Home Office together with a transcript. The Home Office will review and process the application. When approved, a check will be sent to the applicant. Sedensky István, 4 osztály 20 éves vagyok. A Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) egyetemen gépészmérnöki karon tanulok. Most kezdem a harmadik évfolyamot, elég jó eredményeim vannak. Cleveland, Ohioban nőttem fel. Ott végeztem a Walsh Jesuit gimnáziumban és ott jártam magyar iskolába is. Magyarságismeret, földrajz és történelem tárgyakból le is érettségiztem. 4 éves korom óta vagyok cserkész, a Clevelandi Magyar 14-es Cserkészcsapat tagja. Most is aktív tag vagyok mint cserkész tiszt. A magyar nyári iskolai táborokban mint tanuló, az utolsó években pedig mint programvezető, őrsvezető vettem részt. A Clevelandi Regős Csoport tagjaként volt szerencsém bejárni Magyarországot és Erdélyt, így tanulni népitáncokat, népművészetet és magyarságismeretet. A cserkészekkel pedig a Millenuim évében bejártuk István király birodalmát. Jelenleg a Coop program keretein belül egy helikopter vállalatnál vagyok gyakornok egy negyedévre. Jövőre vonatkozó tervem az autómotor áttervezése változatos és alacsony üzemanyag felhasználásra. Az egyetemen tagja vagyok a versenyautó építő csoportnak. Itthon is ez a tervem: építeni, összeszerelni egy autót. Az üzemanyag előállítással is sikeresen próbálkozom: már gyártottam biodízelt az autóm hajtásához. Születésem óta, vagyis 20 éve vagyok tagja szüleimmel együtt a biztosító társaságnak. Nagyon hálás lennék, ha megkaphatnám az ösztöndíjat, mert bizony az egyetem költségei igen magasak. De a célt kitűztem és tanulmányaimat szeretném sikeresen befejezni. Steve Sedensky was recommended by Branch 4 Manager, Jolán Abel Jennifer L. I am working toward my Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts. The culinary field is a very competitive one which requires many hours of hard work, but it is also a very rewarding one.
