Page 26 Fraternity- Testvériség assist my tuition for my senior year at Gannon. I graduated from New Brighton High School with the class of 2002. I am very thankful to my parents, Paul and Jan Terjak of Beaver Falls, PA.” (David was recommended by Branch 151 Manager, Peggy Fabri) Theresa Rebecca Zernechel, Branch 140: “I have been enrolled at Kent State University Stark Campus for the last four semesters. As I head into my fifth one, I am hoping to remain on the Dean’s List and keep my grades high. 1 am planning on transferring to the main campus in Kent in about a year where I can focus completely on my major, which is Technical Theatre with a specialization in Lightning. I may also go on to Pyrotechnics in the future. Through this major, my dream is to design lights for a Broadway show in New York City. I have been involved in the theatre for the last seven years and have been a part of over twenty shows. My best achievements are by far the shows I have stage managed, which include, “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris,” “The Madwoman of Chaillot,” “ Beauty and the Beast” and “The Emperor’s New Clothes” to name a few. I have also been a part of many shows backstage such as “The Little Shop of Horrors,” “Agnes of God,” and “Les Miserables.” Many of the above shows were performed at The Players Guild of Canton, where 1 had volunteered for 2 years. Because of my involvement at Kent State Park, however, I have been unavailable to return to The Guild for some time. I am currently a part-time employee of the Kent State Theatre where 1 plan on staying for the next few years. Along with that, I am a part of The College Democrats where other students my age meet once a week to discuss how we can be a part of politics. Many of the members are planning on running for a seat on school boards around the county. 1 am also employed as a security guard at Blossom, which is part of the House of Blues during the summer months. I am usually placed in the dressing room area, which 1 consider a huge honor as it proves they trust me and my professionalism. I have met stars such as Tim McGraw, Three Days Grace, Alanis Morrisette, Nickleback, Kid Rock, and many others. I plan on returning to Blossom again this summer while also getting a job at Kent State Stark’s Theatre. Because of theatre, 1 have little time for much else. A play can literally take over your life! However, I still find time to spend with my Hungarian grandparents, once a week for lunch. I always enjoy spending time with them as they will tell me wonderful stories of when they were my age, which 1 find fascinating. I truly thank my grandparents, John and Helen St. George, for making sure I am a part of The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America my entire life! I feel truly blessed to be a part of such a great history and culture. 1 would also like to thank Margaret Ayers for recommending me for this student aid which 1 plan on using for my books the next semester.” Essay Contest All members of HRFA are invited to submit a 500- word essay either in Hungarian or English on the topic, "The Importance of Preserving My Hungarian Heritage."
