_ I Page 14 Fraternity- Testvériség the teenagers climbed ladders to clean high windows and glass doors. The treasure hunt proved to be the most exciting activity with a race of “Who can find the missing offering envelope?” while leafing through the old Bibles and hymnbooks. Clara Csikesz and Judit Zambo from the Federation worked side-by-side with the little ones and their parents, but most importantly provided the hungry and tired crew with scrumptious pizzas at the end of the day. It is amazing how a couple of slices of pizza can inspire the young and lead them to realize that helping others voluntarily enriches our own souls by immeasurable worth. Here in Florida, far from the great Hungarian centers of the north, a new and growing population is taking root mostly unaware of one another. It is the responsibility of a school like ours to introduce new friends, give them a chance to help each other and in the mean time welcome their children with Hungarian atmosphere and culture. This is what we can do here locally, but so much more can be achieved with the help of fraternal organizations, like the HRFA. More and more young Hungarians see the need to belong, the need to participate, and beyond all, the need to belong and participate together. Days like today foster goodwill with a sense of cultural pride. What more does this world need? Gertrude Szilagyi, school coordinator Branch 20 — Trenton, NJ Due to conflict with other events, our branch had to re-schedule its JOIN HANDS DAY project to May 22, 2005. Frank Király, Mrs. Ture, Elizabeth and Laci Ujj, with Branch Manager and Area Fraternal Coordinator Deneice Oroszvary visited the Mill House Nursing Home in Trenton, New Jersey. We were accompanied by 17 youth non-members and 6 adult non-members. Pictures will be published in the next issue. Deneice Oroszvarv, Branch Manger Tel: (215) 493-0656 Branch 35 — Detroit, Michigan It has been a tradition with our branch for many years now that we spend Join Hands Day together with a project so close to our hearts: the beautification of our church grounds at Allen Park. Children and adults gathered early in the morning and the cleanup of the area all around the American Hungarian Reformed Church began. All worked diligently, and along with the fresh plants and flowers we planted a little bit of our soul and passion that gave spiritual glow to the entire garden. The results were astonishing. The tired but happy team was treated with lunch and the performance of 2 little sparkling talents, Alexeys and Brianna Hladchuk, who were dancing and singing for us so we could spend the rest of the afternoon in great joy and well deserved relaxing atmosphere. Many thanks to all the 12 adult and 6 young volunteers, members and nonmembers alike, for their participation in this community project. Ilona Szabó, Branch Manger Tel: (734) 284-7344 Branch 62 - in Miskolc, Hungary It is with great pride that we announce, that the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America conducted its overseas JOIN HANDS DAY activity for the 4th time in a row, making HRFA the only organization to complete a project outside the borders of the United States! We are extremely proud of our 5 young activists who had been working diligently over the past four years to establish a tradition in Miskolc, Hungary. These young fraternalists, Zsebik Péter, Zsebik Norbert, Zsebik Csaba, Zsebik László and Tires Márton, have set an example to follow for many in their own community, thousands of miles away from the cradles of the concept of voluntarism
