The college was started by a woman who believed that many teenagers are prepared for college before they even finish high school, and if given the early opportunity at a college education, many younger scholars would be capable of doing just as well in college courses as high school graduates. I started my freshman year when I was fifteen, with other students who had only completed one or two years of high school, most of them around the age of sixteen. It was wonderful to be at a college where other students cared enough about learning to seek out a truly original school. In the next three years, I intend to study to become a teacher, as well as learn Hungarian. For almost my entire life, I have been a part of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Trenton, attending Sunday School, Youth Group, and the Summer Youth Camp. I always took joy in helping to serve church dinners, doing service projects with the Youth Group, as well as helping my mom with Join Hands Day and other volunteer activities. I am grateful to the HRFA for generously assisting me in paying for my education. Thank you.” university. The scholarship is not available to first- year college students. It is only granted to those who are in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th years and have earned good grades for the courses completed. Graduate students are also encouraged to apply. Every summer, I attended church camp in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, where I would spend one afternoon at the Bethlen Home, visiting people and singing in the hallways. Our camp would also send a donation- envelope around to everyone on the bus ride to the Bethlen Home, and we all tried to pitch in if we could. One year, my mother developed the idea of something called a walker-bag. They are cloth bags that can be hung on a walker or on the side of a hospital-bed. After spending hours cutting, pinning, and sewing walker-bags, my sisters and I took a couple of large bags with us to camp. We delivered them to various residents of the Bethlen Home, and we also left a large stack with the staff of the Bethlen Home so that they might give them to new residents as they came. I am currently enrolled in school at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I am a sophomore, so I have not yet had reason to declare a major, but I currently plan to T
