Page 3 Fraternity-Testvériség President’s Corner: Following the 37th Quadrennial Convention The 37lh Quadrennial Con­vention of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America is but a distant memory. The excitement is over. The time to act is about to begin. As I reflect on the events of the Con­vention, there is a pleasant feeling in my heart to know that those who carry the well being of this organization upon them give their heart and soul for the good of our society. This was very evident at this last Convention. I am truly grateful for the dedication and commitment of all the delegates for their hard work, at times even work­ing way beyond the regularly scheduled working day to finish the work that needed to be accomplished. On behalf of the entire organization I express thanks to the President of the United States of America for the very personal greeting he extended to our organization on the occasion of the Convention. The greeting is published in this issue of Fraternity. Next to the events that occurred during the Convention, the main highlight of our gathering was the Cornerstone Dedication of the new Bethlen Home following the open­ing worship service conducted by the leaders of our main Hungarian Reformed Church bodies. On behalf of the members of our society, 1 express special thanks to the Bethlen Home for their warm welcome during the open­ing worship service, cornerstone dedication and fraternal time on the first day of the Convention. You may read about this up-lifting event on the pages of this issue to­gether with a collage of pictures which perpetuate the spe­cial moments of this meeting. The delegates of the Convention have spoken. The Con­vention elected a new Board of Directors to carry on the work of the Federation for the next four years. 1 would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to those Board Members who did not receive the support to con­tinue their work in the same capacity. However they have pledged to work for the well being of the Federation, and I would like to congratulate those new Board Members who were elected to carry out the mandate of the Conven­tion. On behalf of the Executive Committee and Members of the Board of Directors, I ask for the support of our mem­bers for the greater good of the Federation. Rev. Stefan M. Torok President Elnöki Köszöntő: Az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyesület (AMRE) 37. Közgyűlése óta már hónapok teltek el. Visszaemlékezvén a gyűlés napjaira, szívemet egy kellemes érzés tölti el, hiszen a résztvevők kivétel nélkül, mindent megtettek a konvenció sikere érdekében. Igazán hálás vagyok mind az igazgatóság tagjainak, mind a delegátusoknak az erőn feletti munkájukért, hiszen hosszú órákon át, sőt mi több, egy alkalommal éjszakába nyúló tárgyaláson vitatták meg az egyesületünk jövőjével kapcsolatos lényeges kérdéseket. Az összes tagunk nevében köszönetemet szeretném nyilvánítani George W. Bushnak, az Amerikai Egyesült Államok elnökének azért a köszöntőért, melyet egyesületünknek címzett a 37. Közgyűlés alkalmából. A köszöntőt teljes terjedelmében elolvashatják a Fratemity- Testvériség ezen számában. Hálámat szeretném kifejezni a Bethlen Otthon vezetőségének és alkalmazottainak is, hiszen nemcsak a helyet biztosították a Bethlen Otthon kápolnájában a konvenció megnyitó istentiszteletéhez, hanem lehetővé tették, hogy a gyűlés összes résztvevője a vendégekkel együtt részt vehessen az új Bethlen Otthon sarokkő­elhelyezési ünnepségén, melyet egy csodálatos ebéddel koronáztak meg. Egyesületünk törvénye értelmében a gyűlésen résztvevő delegátusok megválasztották az igazgatóság új tagjait, akik az elkövetkezendő négy esztendőben az AMRE munkáját fogják irányítani. Meg szeretném köszönni azon személyek eddigi hűséges munkáját, akik nem lettek visszaválasztva az igazgatóságba, és egyúttal gratulálni szeretnék azoknak, akik elnyerték a delegátusok bizalmát és meg lettek bízva az AMRE vezetésével. Mind a magam, mind tisztviselő társam Leslie L. Megyeri, valamint az igazgatóság nevében továbbra is tisztelettel kérem az odaadó munkájukat az AMRE sikeres jövője érdekében. Nt. Török M.
