She is a member of the Lorain, OH Hungarian Reformed Church and Branch 31 of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. Hilary, a 17-year-old student at Amherst Steele High School, has been preparing for the pageant for months. She gives the credit to her deceased grandmother, Barbara Bigrigg, who inspired her and taught her everything about traditions and experiences that reflect the Hungarian nationality. Hilary had the privilege to be part of the Debutante Ball, which meant she was accepted into society as a young woman instead of a little girl. She has been able to spread her heritage to the Lorain community by dancing at the festivals and other events. After graduation from high school in 2005, Hilary plans to attend Bowling Green State University and major in early childhood education. Hilary’s great grandmother, Helen Kayatin, passed away in April 2004. She was the manager of Branch 226 of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of Richeyville, PA
