Fraternity- Testvériség Page 4 INTRODUCING DAVID W. THOMAS New Administrator of the Bethlen Home David comes to us from the town of Duncansville, PA. He brings to the Bethlen Home more than 20 years of nursing home administrator experience, in both profit and not-for- profit settings. David is well known within nursing home circles here in Pennsylvania and with Departments of Health and Public Welfare. In this new issue of the Fraternity, it is my privilege to welcome David W. Thomas, the new administrator of the Bethlen Home. David was interviewed and called to this position by the Bethlen Home Board of Directors on February 26, 2004. David has spent his first few weeks on the job becoming acquainted with the residents and staff. He looks forward to meeting members of our residents’ families, as well as the many supporters of the Bethlen Home. So feel free to drop in any time to say “Isten hozott, Dávid!”or “God has brought you, David”. Speaking of visiting, this was an exciting Spring at the Bethlen Home. Construction on our new facility is progressing. Come and see the progress and enjoy the Bethlen Home’s hospitality! The guest apartments are available to our visitors on a first come, first serve reservation basis. Simply call the Bethlen Home main office and let us know when you are coming. May God continue to be with and to bless the many friends of the Bethlen Home. The residents and staff are grateful for your support! Rev. Imre A. Bertalan Executive Director of the Bethlen Home Nekem jutott az a megtiszteltető feladat, hogy a Testvériség mostani számában üdvözöljem David W. Thomast, akit 2004. február 26-án az Igazgatótanács megválasztott az Bethlen Otthon új igazgatójának. David a Pennsylvania állambeli Duncansville-ből jött hozzánk. A vendégszobák lefoglalandók. Isten áldását kérjük minden támogatónkra. A lakók és a gondviselők hálásak minden támogatásáért. Nt. Imre A. Bertalan Bethlen Otthon Igazgatója A SHORT BIOGRAPHY of DAVID W. THOMAS Born in Sendi, Japan some 48 years ago, the son of a career Army NCO, 1 attended grade school in Taiwan. I graduated from Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School what seems like a long time ago. I played football as a wide receiver and linebacker and ran track-running the 220-, 440- and 880 relays. I am a Penn State graduate with a BS degree in Health Planning and Administration. I have also worked over the years on a Master’s in Business Administration. I have been in Licensed Nursing for some 23 years now, working for both non-profits and for profits. I have done consulting and have worked for government nursing homes. My last facility was a management contact from UPMC Senior Living to the county facility in Cambria County, Laurel Crest Rehab and Specialty Care Center. Laurel Crest was a 552-bed facility with some 600 staff members. Personally, I am the father of two great kids, Megan (23 years old), a junior at Pitt in Oakland, and Jonathan (20 years old), a freshman at Penn State, Beaver. I love wild life photography and decorate my office with lots of my pictures. When you stop by the Bethlen Home or have a free minute, stop by and let me know your opinion of my photography. I am really looking forward to working with everyone as we move forward with the new building.
