I always knew that I wanted to pursue a career in teaching. I was accepted into my major in the English Education Department and since I began attending York College in the fall of 1999,1 have been very proud to be a part of such a strong teaching program. I also have focused on a minor in Art Education. At this point in my college career, I am finishing the final part of my education. I am currently student teaching an eighth grade English class in a community near my college. So far it has been a wonderful experience and it has only increased my excitement about getting out into the “real teaching world.” I am very honored to be considered for a scholarship from the HRFA. My grandfather, Charles Cseresznye Cherris, was a humanitarian, a poet, and a mentor. He inspired my love for English and the Humanities. I dedicate everything I am and will become to him for teaching me to appreciate and embrace our Hungarian heritage as well as striving to excel and follow my dreams of becoming a teacher.” (Kathryn was recommended for the scholarship by Branch Manager Deneice Oroszvary.)
