Page 6 TESTVÉRISÉG that $5 dividend check or the knowledge that through your membership in HRFA you are helping to promote and preserve our Hungarian heritage and giving assistance to worthy causes of interest and concern to all of us Hungarian- Americans. The answer seems obvious to me. Membership in HRFA is a good deal for its members as well. Let’s say that over the course of a year you make contributions to various charities of your choice in a total HRFA presents a donation of $25,000 to the Capital Campaign Fund of the Bethlen Home: L. to r. William B. Puskas, Jr., Secre- tary-Treasurer/CFO; Rev. Stefan M. Torok, President/CEO; Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Executive Director of the Bethlen Home; George Dózsa, Chairman; and Michael E. Walker, Administrator of the Bethlen Home. amount of $300. You make these contributions because you feel the needs and causes addressed by these charities are worthwhile and deserving of your support. I also think that all of you would agree that the various needs and causes supported by HRFA through its fraternal and charitable activities are similarly worthwhile and deserving of your support. However, for that same $300, you can open an HRFA flexible premium deferred annuity (which you can add to from time to time as you choose) at extremely competitive interest rates. A 45-year old man (non-smoking) can purchase a $12,000 traditional whole life insurance policy with an annual premium of only $254.56! A 50-year old person can purchase an $8,000 20-payment life insurance policy with an annual premium of only $259.60! You can purchase a $3,000 single premium (i.e., paid in full) whole life insurance policy for your 11 -year old grandchild for only $270! Information and rates on our various life insurance and annuity products are available from your local HRFA agent or through the Home Office. Through membership in HRFA, you not only obtain a valuable financial product at a competitive price, but you are also contributing to the support of so many activities which help to keep alive our treasured Hungarian heritage. Many of these activities would be unable to continue without the support provided by HRFA. Think of how much joy and pride these events celebrating our Hungarian culture and heritage have brought to you over the years. Think of how much poorer all our lives, not to mention the lives of our children and grandchildren, would be if these events were no longer available to us. Another definition of “dividend” from the same dictionary is “anything received as a bonus, reward, or in addition to or beyond what is expected.” When you purchase a financial product from HRFA, you expect to receive the life insurance or annuity benefits provided under your certificate, together with friendly and courteous assistance with your questions and concerns from your local agent and the Home Office. How many of you expected to receive that additional benefit of knowing that your membership helps our Hungarian culture and heritage to prosper and flourish not just in the present day, but for years to come? When you add these benefits to the other benefits of HRFA membership - including your free subscription to Fraternity magazine, our ScriptSave prescription drug discount program, and the availability of mortgage loans and certificate loans, I believe that we can truly say that membership in HRFA carries with it many “dividends.” William B. Puskas, Jr. Secretary-Treasurer/CFO We wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your donation of $1,000, which will be used to erect a permanent memorial for the heroes aboard Flight 93. Thank you for recognizing the importance of building a suitable monument to honor the unforgettable sacrifice made by all those aboard Flight 93, and to remind future generations of what it truly means to be an “American.” They unselfishly gave their lives to save the lives of others, and courageously circumvented the intended destination of that flight. All the passengers of Flight 93 will be inextricably linked to Somerset County, Pennsylvania in history and heart. Somerset County Board of Commissioners James C. Marker, Chairman; Brad Cober, Vice Chairman; Pamela Tokar-Ickes, Secretary; Susan J. Hankinson, Somerset County Flight 93 Coordinator
