We discussed plans for Join Hands Day and the Annual Branch Picnic that will be held on September 13,2003, at the same location along the Detroit River in Trenton, Michigan. We held our elections, and we extend our congratulations to our officers for 2003: John Bujdoso, President; James Nagy, Vice President; Debra Kish, Treasurer; and Elizabeth Poti, Secretary. A time of warm fellowship followed the closing of the meeting. Our Branch Manager, Helen Szabó, provided the delicious pogácsa, which was enjoyed by all. Elizabeth V. Poti, Secretary Tel: 734-676-4382 White Rose Debutante Ball This year the Federation sponsored the White Rose Debutante Ball which was held in Dearborn, Michigan, on February 8, 2003. Needless to say, it was a very beautiful and successful event with a turnout of about 300 people. Branch Manager Helen Szabó and her husband, Andy, the Rev. Ferenc Varga and his wife, Katalin, shared an enjoyable evening in the company of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vargo and family, as well as Sarah Bertalan from Toledo, Ohio. Ilona (Helen) Szabó, Branch Manager Tel: 734-284-7344 Branch 50 - Buffalo, New York The West Side Hungarian Reformed Church celebrated its 75th anniversary on October 20, 2002, in Buffalo, New York. The church was filled by members of the congregation, guests from the Buffalo area, and even from Canada, on this glorious event. We were honored to have two former ministers among us, Prof. László Kovács from Indiana and the Rev. Paul Kantor from Canada. The Rev. David Kunselman also joined us from Buffalo. The guest of honor was the Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi, Bishop of the Calvin Synod. His meditation was based on “Living Stones.” He also praised those who founded this church and those who have sustained it over the years. The Rev. Maria Papp, our supply minister, who is serving her congregation in Welland, Ontario, delivered a powerful message on “Building Prayerfully,” based on the Book of Nehemiah. Chicago, Indiana Kossuth Klub Akire büszkék vagyunk November végén ünnepelte Father Joseph Vámos az Our Lady of Consolation R.C. templomhoz helyezésének 15—ik évfordulóját, édesapja, testvéröccse és annak családja jelenlétében. Vámos Atya, túl a kötelességen, túl a hivatáson rendkívül lelkiismeretesen dolgozik. A 15 évi munkássága nagyon sok szép eredményt hozott. A köszöneté és hálája kifejezéséül, az egyházközség tagjainak a közbenjárására, Indiana állam kormányzója a legmagasabb kitüntetést, amit Indiana állampolgárai nevében civil személynek adhat, a SAGAMORE OF THE WABASH-t adományozta Vámos Atyának, ami ritkán ajándékozott kitüntetés. Elismerése a közösségért végzett, a közjót szolgáló, önzetlen szolgálataiért. Túl az egyházközségi tevékenységén Vámos Atya munkája a világi szerveknél, (Merrillville Town Hall és különböző közigazgatási fórumok) közismert és értékelt. Vámos Atya tagja az Egyesületünknek. Nem tudom kifejezni és érzékeltetni, mit jelent nekünk, magyaroknak, hogy egy közülünk ilyen magas rangú elismerést kapott. Vámos Atya Amerikában született, jól Vámos Atya kitüntetése.
