FRATERNITY Page 17 Branch 151 - Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania Join Hands Day - Saturday, June 15, 2002 Due to inclement weather, which made traveling unsafe for our volunteers coming from far away, our group split up and worked on three different projects, each within their own community. Beautification and Renovation Work at Third Avenue (Hungarian) Calvin Reformed Church Beaver Falls, Pa. Immediately upon arrival at 9:00 A.M., our ladies started working inside the church. Wanda Bain, Peg Fabri, Arlene Csornán, and Shaunte Csornán (youth) ran the sweeper, dusted, waxed the floors, watered the plants, and rearranged the furniture. In the meantime, the men, Joe Fabri, Andy Csornán, Allen Csornán (youth), and our young wrestlers Cole McDaniel and Chris Coleman, trimmed the shrubbery, the hedges and cut the grass. It was a joy to share ideas with the young people, to get to know them as we worked together, and to rejoice at the results of a hard day’s work. We left the church with a good feeling and stopped at Lindsey’s Restaurant for dinner and fellowship. Community Work at Cranberry Park in Cranberry Township, Pa. A group of young people under the leadership of Jeff and Julie DeSantes and Josh and Jodi Fleishman went to clean-up and plant flowers at the park. It was a very successful event with the kids having fun helping and at the same time learning to serve the community they live in. Although we had to interrupt our work a few times because of the rain, we finished our project, and we were very satisfied with the results. Our appreciation to Jeff and Julie DeSantes, Josh and Jodi Fleishman, Jerry, Lisa, Page and Patton Weaver, Jessalyn, Alexa, Rachel and Jeffrey DeSantes for participating in this year’s Join Hands Day. Lending a Helping Hand in Irwin, Pa. In Irwin, Pennsylvania, Sam and Renee Maldonato, their children, Alexandra and Gábriellé, as well as Bill and Lisa Maggio and their children, Lauren and Nick, did community work in their neighborhood. They cleaned-up an elderly lady’s much neglected backyard. They pulled weeds and manicured the lawn. Unfortunately, the work had to be shortened due to the bad weather. The children enjoyed their workday helping the lady. At the same time, they learned to think of the needs of other people. I am sure that this has made an impression on their minds and in their hearts. In all projects, the youth worked together with the adults harmoniously, sharing responsibilities equally. The young people were so impressed with the results of their work that they are looking forward with much excitement to next year’s Join Hands Day. Congratulations to Our Young Members! However, our fresh bread, kolbász and sauerkraut sandwiches, hot dogs, and hurka Adam Peace T Pat Carver
