HRFA Joins Relief Efforts for Victims of 9/11/01 Terrorist Attacks The passage of time has not dulled our sympathy and concern for the many victims of September 11, 2001. As Hungarian-Americans, we are appreciative and ever grateful of the opportunity to live in a society dedicated to the preservation of liberty and freedom. We are also aware that the cost of that liberty and freedom can be dear. To that end, we have established a separate fund titled “HRFA 9/11/01 ReliefFund.” Members can send donations payable to the Fund to the Home Office at 2001 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20036-1011, Attention: Ms. Teri Pflum, Fraternal Coordinator. For a donation of $15.00 or more, the HRFA will send you a commemorative cloisonne pin you can wear to show your support and the support of our society for the victims of the tragedies. Letters to the Editor 2002. július 13. July 16, 2002 Dear Members of the Board of Directors, I would like to gratefully acknowledge our thanks to you for the support of our Hungarian Folk Dance and Folk Music Symposium which was held a few weeks ago. The event was a success, and we want to you to know that the following young persons from Hungarian communities were able to attend the camp at a 100 dollar reduced rate as per your kindness to offer the scholarship: Anthony Acs, New Brunswick, NJ; Denes Dreisziger, Montreal, PQ; Daniel Dreisziger, Montreal PQ; László Hajdu- Nemeth, New Brunswick, NJ; Katalin Hajdu-Nemeth, New Brunswick, NJ; András Kocsis, Montreal, PQ; Bori Kontes, Ottawa, Ontario; Sabine Kőszegi, Montreal, PQ; Lessika Paulus, Montreal, PQ; and Gizella Santayanna, Montreal, PQ. All these young adults are active and excellent dancers. They represent Hungarian culture not only in their community, but in other areas, too. They also are involved in teaching Hungarian dance one way or another. We appreciate your generosity, and we hope to work with you in the future. Kalman Magyar, Director American Hungarian Folklore Centrum August 22, 2002 Reverend Torok, We here at the National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) office are really enjoying Fraternity. The quality is great and I am enjoying learning Hungarian history. We were especially struck by your logo “Lest We Forget” in the last issue. Would that logo be available electronically in color? We have plans to highlight what fratemals have done in the past year in remembrance of September 11 at the annual meeting and on our website. Yours is one of the best graphics we have seen.
