FRATERNITY Page 31 OBITUARIES John J. Kraska John J. Kraska died in December 2001. He was bom in Passaic, NJ. He was a lifelong city resident. Mr. Kraska, a Korean War Army veteran, owned Jay’s Florist Store for 30 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Chopin Singing Society, an honorary member of Polish Singers Alliance of America, a past president of the Central Polish Organization, former director of Polish Home, grand marshal of Pulaski Day Parade and the board of directors of the Sons of Poland. A former director of the Passaic Democratic Committee, he served on the Passaic Planning Board. He was a former member of St. Theresa’s choir and a parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church. He was also a longtime member of the Passaic, NJ Branch 368 of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. He was predeceased by a brother. Surviving are three sisters. William Miskolcze, Sr. William Miskolcze, Sr., 88 of Ellport, Pennsylvania died January 19, 2002 in the Skilled Unit of Ellwood City Hospital. He was bom April 27, 1913, in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Stephen Miskolcze, who died in 1950, and Anna Ruman Miskolcze, who died in 1976. He was a member since 1926 of the Ellport Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and church treasurer, and was a member of the building committee and held other offices. He was also a member of the Hungarian Home, Ellwood City, and the Ellwood City AARP. He retired in 1975 from the Mechanical Department of the U.S. Steel Corporation, Ellwood City, with 43 years of service. He was one of the oldest members of the Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania Branch 151 of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. His friends in Branch 151 gratefully remember the help he gave to the Hungarian refugees of 1956 in Ellwood City and Beaver Falls. Surviving are his wife, Ann Takacs Miskolcze, whom he married in 1936; a son and daughter-in-law; a daughter; four grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
