Must have been a member of the Federation for at least five years immediately preceding date of application for scholarship. He or she must be a member of good standing, i.e., applicant’s policy reflects no arrears in dues, and policy is not lapsed or matured. 2. Should be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate day student in an accredited four-year college or university. The scholarship is not available to first-year college students. It is only granted to those who are in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year and have earned good grades for the courses completed. 3. The applicant should contact his or her branch manager or the Home Office to receive an application form. Once the student completes the form, he or she should send it to the branch manager or the Home Office together with a transcript. The Home Office will review and process the application. We thank our Branch Managers for recommending these many fine young people for the Student Aid & Loan Fund of the HRFA, and for making them aware of this important benefit of our fraternal society. Patrick G. Barry, member of Youngstown, Ohio Branch 22: “My love for computers was obvious as early as junior high school. I was voted the most likely person to become a computer hacker! Obviously that did not happen. I directed my talents towards something more positive. During my junior year of high school, I attended Tech Prep classes in computer technology. I spent much of my time helping other students and even teachers with their computer skills. After graduating from high school in 2000,1 left home in search of an adventure at Ohio State University. My major was management information systems. Because I had to take so many required classes at Ohio State my freshman year, I was unable to take any computer classes. When I came home for the summer, the first thing I did was to enroll in some computer classes. I took CompTia’s A+certification class. I will soon take the tests necessary to become certified. I am currently attending Youngstown State University. It is one of the few universities to offer the Cisco computer training classes. These classes will be very beneficial for me in my future computer career. I would like to thank the HRFA for the financial aid and John Morey for submitting my application.” Michael György Cservenak, member of East Chicago Branch 62: “I am a sophomore, full-time student, at Purdue University Calumet, Hammond, Indiana, majoring in English/General Education. I will teach some day, but presently my main focus is acting and directing. Most Chicago area newspapers have favorably reviewed my shows. I am a member of the Excalibur Shakespeare Theater Company of Chicago, the founder of the “Improv Comedy Show,” and I am also the official “Town Crier” of Hammond, Indiana. My latest play is at the Valparaiso Indiana Community Theater, and it had several calls to play in movies. Because of all the success and encouragement in the “business,” I will continue my studies at one of the major theater schools such as De Paul, New York University, Juilliard or UCLA, and follow the footsteps of Paul Newman, Peter Falk, Tony Curtis and Mariska Hargitay, the most successful Hungarians on screen in America. I am a member of the HRFA Branch 62 as well as the Kossuth Club of East Chicago, where I attended Hungarian language classes, helped out at the yearly picnics, balls, soccer games, etc. I work a lot as a waiter/server at TGI Friday’s to save money for school. In Hammond, I was a lifeguard, a census taker and a paperboy, delivering the Times for 5 years. I played the guitars in the JMB rock and blues band, participated in sports, Aces, and I was the president of the
