THOMAS SZILASSY NEW NATIONAL SALES & MARKETING DIRECTOR OF THE HRFA It is with great pride that we introduce our new National Director of Sales and Marketing, Steven Thomas Szilassy. Tom was born in Anderson, Indiana, and is the middle son of Drs. Sándor and Clara Szilassy. He graduated from Washington Township High School, Sewell, NJ. He attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Business Administration and Spanish. He holds an MBA in Finance from Fordham University, New York City, New York. He holds NASD Series 6 and 63 designations, and insurance licenses in 4 states. Tom speaks Spanish, French, and German, in addition to his native tongue of Hungarian and of course, English. Tom worked for Magyar Savings Bank during his college years. He then joined Chemical Bank (which later became Chase Manhattan Bank) as a Management Trainee, rapidly rising to the rank of Vice President, managing some of the largest bank branches in Manhattan. From there he became an Exclusive Financial Specialist with Allstate Financial Services. Tom says, “I am truly gratified at having been given this opportunity, for which I deeply believe God has prepared me. I look forward to being the driving force of growth for the Federation, to keep us strong for generations to follow. I am proud to serve the HRFA!” We welcome his energy, focus and experience, and look forward to a bright collaboration culminating in success. HRFA’S PRESENCE AT FRATERNAL CONGRESSES Ohio Fraternal Congress Director Bill Nicholas and his wife Marge represented the HRFA at the Ohio Fraternal Congress on October 13, 2001 in Canton, Ohio. Robert Gruszecki, President of the Ohio Fraternal Congress, is of Hungarian descent and lives in Sebring, Ohio. Bill said it was a good and pleasant experience to attend an event with other fratemalists, who share hopes and problems similar to ours. Director Bill Nicholas and OFC President Robert Gruszecki. Indiana Fraternal Congress Director Joseph Kovács and his wife Maria attended the 103rd Annual Meeting of the Indiana Fraternal Congress on November 3, 2001 in Logansport, Indiana. Joe offered the invocation and was elected Second Vice President. Joe and Maria look forward to attending next year’s annual meeting in Hammond, Indiana on October 4-5, 2002.
