Page 14 TESTVÉRISÉG BRANCH NEWS Branch 1 - Bridgeport, Connecticut The annual meeting of our branch was held on April 22, 2001. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted, as was the Treasurer’s report. We elected the following officers: Alex Perigyi, Presi­dent; Vincent Vida, Vice President; Robin Peterson, Trea­surer; and Ella Racz, Secretary. Our secretary reported that: the church will be col­lecting used eye glasses for the Bethlen Home during the month of May; a donation was made for victims of the recent flooding in Hungary; members from the Bridgeport and Norwalk branches are planning a trip to Ligonier; and Adam Shields, grandson of Alex Perigyi has become an Eagle Scout. Our branch members, who are at the same time mem­bers of the First United Church, are very active through­out the year: we participate in the Hungarian Festival held each year in October; we support the Sunday School Christ­mas party; each year in March, the men host a com beef and cabbage dinner; and we are involved with the weekly bingo program. We are planning to have a picnic this summer. Ella Racz, Secretary 203-372-5292 Branch 3 - Fairport Harbor, Ohio The annual meeting of our branch was held at the Fairport Harbor Hungarian Reformed Church. The meet­ing was opened by President Edward Bihary at 12:02 P.M. Bishop Louis Medgyesi gave the opening prayer and asked for guidance in all our undertakings. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Branch Manager Louis Medgyesi, delegate to the con­vention held in Toledo, gave a synopsis of all the changes in the new structure of the Federation. He also reported on new insurance policies now available. Mrs. Elizabeth Medgyesi, wife of Bishop Medgyesi, reported on the Fairport Harbor “Breakfast Bunch” pro­gram, which is a community faith project. This project provides a healthy breakfast to approximately 31 to 35 youngsters in the local elementary school on a daily basis. She asked for help in securing funds and cereals for the kitchens, as this is not a government-sponsored project. The need is there for these children and we are seeking grants to aid these youngsters. Branch Manager Louis Medgyesi thanked everyone who helps with all church and community-related projects. Discussion was held on a picnic to be held in July, 2001. We will secure a park with a pavilion. Menu will be bacon roast, goulash, etc. There will be a meeting on June 10, 2001 to finalize picnic plans. The Branch Manager reported on visitation of the sick and shut-in members. He asked that we expand this service to everyone. Election of officers for the year 2001 is as follows: Dr. Michael Kondik, President; Donald Getch, Vice Presi­dent; Edward Bihary, Treasurer; and Elizabeth Ticel, Sec­retary. Discussion was held on a Branch Fund Raiser to aid our Mission Fund. Rt. Rev. Bishop Louis Medgyesi gave a prayer for our deceased members and asked for God’s healing grace for our sick and shut-in members. The meeting was closed at 1:05 P.M. Elizabeth Ticel, Secretary Louis Medgyesi, Branch Manager 440-357-5203 Branch 4 - Cleveland, Ohio Branch President Susan Szabó opened the meeting on January 21, 2001 at 2:30 P.M., and Steve Menyhárt of­fered the prayer. Branch Manager Jolán Abel presented the treasurer’s report, which was accepted by all members present. We celebrated the belated birthday of Miklós Szabó and his grandson Christopher Szabó, both had their birth­days on the same day - November 28th. We wished them much happiness and health. Our Branch Manager Jolán Abel and members of our branch help our elderly members regularly with rides to banks and shopping centers. They also attend to the needs of some of our shut-ins. The officers elected for 2001 are: Susan Szabó, Presi­dent; Eva Menyhárt, Vice President; Jolán Abel, Treasurer; and Miklós Szabó, Secretary. Refreshments were served and the meeting was ad­journed at 5:00 P.M.
