Page 22 Branch News TESTVÉRISÉG Branch 35 - Detroit, Michigan Our Branch had its first picnic on September 30th and God blessed us with beautiful weather and lots of good people. We also had a raffle which brought us $80. We are grateful to our National Secretary Endre Csornán and his wife Arlene for attending this activity with us. The success of this event encourages us to hold picnics and other fraternal activities in the future. Helen Ilona Szabó, Branch Manager 734-284-7344 Branch 134 - Gr. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Shown in the photo taken in August 1999, is one of our newest members, Ilona Brittany Carlson, of Athens, Ohio. She is the great granddaughter of the late Agnes and Joseph Molnár, Jr., who were branch and district managers respectively with the HRFA for a number of years. Ilona is wearing a red velvet crown and vest that her mother made to complement her white organdy skirt that all 3 of her great aunts had worn at one time or another. This summer her mother made her a new red velvet crown with gold embroidery. At the school that Ilona attends, she was asked to discuss her family tree and region of origin. She wore this costume, and her mother Dana took pastries. Her grandmother Esther Molnár Kuhre made a pot of stuffed cabbage for her classmates to taste. Ilona enjoyed speaking about her Hungarian heritage, and we wish to commend her for her pride and interest in it. Olga Darnay, Branch Manager 412-466-2710 Branch 151 - Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania Annual Picnic Over 200 people came the annual picnic of our Branch on May 21, 2000. We were pleasantly surprised to see so many young people attend and show interest in our Federation. Although it was a very hot summer day, we had an enjoyable time preparing for the event, because we know that it is on occasions like these that we reacquaint ourselves with one another and catch up on the news that is happening in our lives. We had a variety of delicious foods and beverages. Meals for children were free. The ladies brought a large variety of Hungarian pastries. What a nice treat after the hot dishes! There were games for children and Hungarian music for the older generation. It is always sad when time comes to say our good-byes; however, we are looking forward to next year again. A good time was had by all who attended our Annual Picnic.
