Page 14 TESTVÉRISÉG THE FIRST ANNUAL HRFA WILLIAM AROS MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT The first William Aros Memorial Golf Tournament was held on July 18, 1999, at Champion Lakes Golf Course in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. The course is a challenging one and considered to be one of the finest in Pennsylvania. The busy weekend started with a reception on Saturday evening for the golfers, Board members and their families. This event coincided with Board meetings and the Ligonier Fraternal Day. On Sunday morning, the golfers were greeted by members of the Board and the National Officers. Refreshments were served all day long to the 67 men and women who registered. The outing started with a devotion led by Rev. Imre A. Bertalan and Rev. Stefan Torok. Remembered in their prayers was the late William Aros, Vice President of the Board of the HRFA. Richard W. Aros, son of William Aros, and family were the primary sponsors of the tournament named after him. The day proved to be extremely hot and many close calls (“flying balls”) were averted; however, no injuries were reported, thank goodness. Exhausted and hungry, the golfers reported back to the conference room of the Bethlen Home where a delicious meal was awaiting them. Numerous prizes were awarded but unfortunately the $ 15,000-cash award for a “Hole in One” went unclaimed. Thanks to the golf committee, which consisted of Jimmy Szuch, Joe Csornán, John K. Morey and Joseph Fabri, for organizing this event so skillfully and successfully. Plans for next year’s tournament are already underway, and we very much hope to see you all there and then. Endre Csornán, National Secretary GOLFERS OF THE FIRST ANNUAL HRFA
