FRATERNITY Page 5 FROM THE SECRETARY’S OFFICE SYNOPSIS OF RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED AT THE SPRING BOARD MEETING Washington, DC April 26-30, 1999 The Spring Board of Directors meeting was called to order by National President George Dózsa at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 1999. The Board resolved: >■ That the work and direction of the Organizational Changes and By-Law Committee be endorsed as outlined/illustrated in the current flow chart, and the Committee be asked to continue its work and further develop the proposal as outlined. >- That the mortgage lending policy be retained at 70% of the appraised value of the property. The duration of the lending period and the maximum principal will remain at a 15-20 years and $ 150,000 maximum. >- That as a condition for loan approval all property for mortgage loans should be appraised by a licensed real estate appraiser at the applicant’s expense. »- That intensive training seminars be conducted in the year 2000, holding them before or after the board meeting. These meetings should also provide time for intensive training and include a motivational speaker. »- That the National Secretary use the services of Jay Schenk, Marketing and Sales Director, and schedule in-depth visits with each branch to evaluate the present status of the branch and to encourage new ways to increase activities and membership. >- That the minimum face value of the new benevolent life policy be $2,000 and the maximum $5,000. >- That the Federation only offer our current riders to the new CKA policies, namely, waiver of premium disability and accidental death. >• That our districts adopt the following minimum goals for new juvenile certificates in the year 2000: New York-Connecticut: 20; New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, Washington, DC: 60; Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia: 30; Ohio: 45; California, Illinois, Indiana: 35; Michigan: 30. >- That in celebration of the new Millennium in the year 2000, the HRFA should offer its members $3,000 of additional face value insurance, without the need for mandatory medical examination. (We reserve the right to request medical examination if needed.) >■ That the $25.00 for flower arrangements for our deceased members be increased to $35.00. > That the custom of presenting the “Hungarian Heritage Preservation Award” plaque to selected/deserving community leaders be reinstated. The plaque should be presented at gatherings and be publicized in local and national media. >- That to differentiate between fraternal and social activities: We recommend that the Executive Committee evaluate any activities and decide for the purpose of matching funds which are fraternal and which are social. Matching funds will only be given toward fraternal activities. >- Concerning Internet and Web page: That the Executive Committee take whatever action necessary to update and upgrade our information on the Internet on a timely basis and further develop and implement the intelligent agent and E-mail commerce to expand our membership. >• That the HRFA investigate procedures for the payment of premiums via credit cards and electronic funds transfer. >• That an amount of $500.00 be given for the establishment of an HRFA scholar club consisting of previous and future recipients. The topic of study should be related to the Federation and $500 be allocated to the organizing and coordinating of this club as well as $500 for scholarship.
