FRATERNITY Page 31 MARIANNE GABRIELLA KOSZORÚS Member of Br. 300 “I am a graduate of the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, MD, and will be entering my second year at George Mason University this fall. Although I am undecided about my major, I am very interested in psychology and biology. I am enrolled in general requirement courses for the fall and plan to select a major this spring. In my freshman year at George Mason University I earned nine A’s and a B. As a result, I was placed on the Dean’s List for both semesters last year and was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, a nationally recognized honor society. Outside of school, I have been a very active member of the Hungarian American community. I am a member of Branch 300, Washington, D.C. of the HRFA. I attend the Hungarian Reformed Church regularly. As a child, I went to Sunday school there, and at the age of thirteen I was confirmed in the church. For over twelve years, I have been very involved with the Hungarian American scout troop in Washington, D.C. At the age of fifteen I successfully passed a patrol leader test which enabled me to teach young children about scouting as well as Hungarian culture, history, literature, and geography, I also enjoy athletics. I was on my high school’s varsity swim and dive teams beginning in my freshman year. I also swam and dove for my summer league at Tuckahoe Recreation Club for six years. Unfortunately, since there is no aquatic facility at George Mason University, I have been unable to dive at the collegiate level. I have stayed active in diving, however, by coaching the Tuckahoe dive team for three years and will be the head coach for the team next year. I also coached the Langley and McLean High School dive teams last winter. My other interests include swimming, tennis, and photography. I have been swimming and playing tennis for ten years and completed four photography courses in high school. Last winter, I interned with the US Committee to Expand NATO and hope to find internships this winter dealing with biology or psychology. I greatly appreciate the Federation’s considering my application for a scholarship which will enable me to pursue my studies.” Marianna was recommended by Teri Pflum, Agent LAURA ANN MELANSON Member of Branch 501 “My sincere thanks and appreciation go out to the members of the HRFA for selecting me to be a recipient of the Student Aid scholarship. MARIANNE GABRIELLA KOSZORÚS Presently, I am a junior at Kean University majoring in Fine Arts and Art Education. For the past seven years, I have been involved in teaching art at the Saturday Morning Youth Program in Metuchen, NJ. In addition, I have continued my love of art by teaching at Camp Riverbend, a children’s day camp. I have enjoyed working with children and enabling them to express their talents in arts and craftsmanship. These two positions, in addition to my college teaching courses, have helped prepare me for my future career choice. I am very proud of my Hungarian heritage. As Secretary of Branch 501, my participation in the Maria Poes Fraternal Day has given me the opportunity to manifest this feeling. Involvement in Church activities has included playing the flute on special occasion. I take this opportunity to thank my grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Pauli, Manager of Branch 501 for recommending me for this scholarship award.” CSABA ZSOLT OROSZ Member of Branch 352 “I was born in Nagy varad, Transylvania. I am a member of the Federation since 1979. At the present, I am a sophomore of Mechanical Engineering at Wright State University. My family now resides in Cleveland, Ohio, and we attend the West Side Hungarian Reformed Church.” Csaba was recommended by J.
