I Page 18 TESTVÉRISÉG WASHINGTON INTERNSHIP AVAILABLE The Hungarian Human Rights Foundation (HHRF) seeks candidates for a full-time, six-month internship position in Washington, DC. The position, to be administered in cooperation with the HHRF, the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America (HRFA) and the Hungarian American Coalition (HAC), will begin with orientation at HHRF’s New York offices, followed by one month of work in the office of a U.S. Senator or Member of Congress and one month experience in an Executive Branch office. The successful candidate will spend the remaining period in New York and at the Washington headquarters of the HRFA, serving as Congressional and Administration liaison, focusing on initiatives to improve the human rights condition of 3.5 million Hungarians who live as minorities in the countries surrounding Hungary. A modest monthly stipend will be provided to ensure that the intern’s basic living needs are covered. Applicants should be recent or prospective college graduates. Prior experience or political science studies are not prerequisites. Founded by young Hungarian-Americans in 1976, HHRF has relied heavily on the substantive work performed by the 22 interns employed by the organization over the past 13 years. We are looking for a self-motivated, flexible individual willing to work effectively for a worthy cause. Fluency in Hungarian is helpful, but not essential. Preference will be given to individuals who are members of the HRFA and possess excellent research and English writing skills, as well as computer literacy (Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, R:Base). Candidates may apply by sending HHRF (P.O. Box J, Gracie Station, New York, NY 10028): 1) a resume, 2) a 500-1,000 work writing sample, and 3) a statement of purpose describing his/her interests, strengths and any past endeavor relevant to the work of HHRF.
