FRATERNITY Page 17 Michael S. Csernak, member of Branch 176, is a sophomore at Purdue University in Indiana. He is pursuing a degree in Nuclear Engineering. He is also a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. As an NROTC scholarship recipient, after graduation, he will serve as an officer in the US Navy. There he hopes to pursue his chosen field further so that he may walk in the footsteps of those Hungarians who helped the advancement of mankind. In his letter to us, Michael writes that he is proud of his Hungarian heritage and the fact that he speaks Hungarian as well as English. Mark Ennsmann, member of Branch 176, is presently a sophomore at the University of Illinois where he is studying Computer Engineering. He is planning to graduate in December of 1998 and hopes to work for a consultant agency that designs and implements networks using Novell software. He has a cumulative GPA of 3.723 out of a possible 4.0 in the engineering program. Mark is a lifetime member of the Federation. He is the grandson of our director Julius Simon and his wife Maria, and the son of Herbert and Evelyn Ennsmann, also members of the Federation. Ildikó Hamos, member of branch 369, is currently pursuing her studies at the University of Vienna, Austria, in both majors: Finno-Ugric languages and Comparative Literature. It is her goal to leam as many languages as possible. She already knows English, French, Spanish, Latin and Finnish. In the future, she hopes to teach somewhere at a university, either in Austria or elsewhere. It is especially difficult these days for young people to find a job, even if they have achieved a certain academic level. It is, therefore, extremely important to be flexible enough to do everything possible to obtain a solid position in higher education. Mandy Imre, member of Branch 176, is attending Purdue University, Indiana. She is enrolled in the school of management but is also working towards a minor in marketing. She would like to give thanks to her grandmother, Ethel Imre, and Mr. Julius Simon for recommending her for the student aid grant. Jennifer Kotan, member of Branch 202, is presently attending West Chester University, Pennsylvania, majoring in history education. She not only wants to teach, but also to challenge the minds of young adults so that they can one day influence the world in which we live. Therefore, she is spending her time in college studying history because “Those who fail to leam their history are doomed to repeat it.” She is also studying methods used in teaching high school age students so that she may be able to actively give to her community as a teacher. She is currently involved in her church through her interest in music. As a flautist, she takes an active part in worship by accompanying the choir each Sunday. At school, she is a member of the honors program. By being a member of this program, she has the unique opportunity to live in a close setting with many other members and share and exchange ideas and viewpoints not only in class, but also outside of class.
