Page 22 TESTVÉRISÉG and they enjoyed a delicious piece of birthday cake after singing “Happy Birthday to Jesus.” Pictures were taken and the children were presented with lovely gifts donated by the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. They were also entertained by the McDonald clown, and they got to tour the McDonald’s kitchen where they received an ice cream cone. Everyone had a great time, and the parents enjoyed the noisy celebration as well. Thanks to all who helped make this event so successful. Arlene Csornán, Branch Manager BRANCH 158 - VESTABURG, PA Branch Manager Irene Sinclair opened the meeting held on December 16, 1994 at 6:00 P.M. Prayer was offered by Mary Patrick. Minutes of previous meeting and Treasurer’s report were read and approved. We decided to continue with our old services, namely making bed pads, collecting eye glasses and cancelled stamps. Some of our members will also continue taking meals on wheels to homes. We each support our church, scout units and local senior centers. Officers elected for 1995 are: Irene Sinclair, President-Treasurer; Debbie Noska, Vice President; Mary Patrick, Secretary. Irene Sinclair, President-Treasurer & Branch Manager BRANCH 198 - LIGONIER, PA Meeting was opened with a prayer by Rev. Paul Kovács on January 20, 1995 at 3:30 P.M. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. There is no Treasurer’s report - “we work with talents, but with no money.” It was reported that John Lazar, resident of the Bethlen Home for eight years, passed away. Diane Hakel is planning to get married; we will have four weddings this year. Member-residents had a McDonald “outing” in the dining room of the Home where everybody was able to participate. Members of the Federation helped at the Bazaars, which are usually held twice yearly. The “evergreen” project to replace the old pine trees is ongoing. Refreshments were offered by Mrs. Edith Kovács, and the meeting adjourned at 4:30 P.M. Edith Kovács, Branch Manager BRANCH 227 - WARREN, OH “Hungarian Day” was celebrated at the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Warren, Ohio, following the morning services. Marge Nicholas, Branch Manager, and Barbara Nagy Sember were the hostesses for this special event, which included honoring Miss Grace Lucas for her work and services with the church for the past fifty years. Cake and coffee was served to the congregation. The cake was generously bought for this celebration by the Federation. Mrs. Elizabeth Nagy, a sixty-eight-year member of the Federation, displayed Hungarian clothes and embroidery for the special event. Marge’s husband, Bill, was the master of ceremonies. Helen J. Savage, Branch Manager BRANCH 302 - NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ Our branch held its quarterly meeting on Tuesday, January 24, 1995 at the law offices of Puskas & Orosz, Esq., New Brunswick, NJ. Prior to the meeting, pizza and soft drinks donated by the branch officers were enjoyed by all. President Jerry Wyttenbach formally called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. The minutes of the meeting were read and approved, with one correction. It was then resolved to send a letter of thanks to the Home Office for their contribution of $100 for a joint advertisement in the program booklet for the 80th Anniversary Dinner at St. Ladislaus R.C. Church, New Brunswick, NJ. The financial report was given by Treasurer Anna Lipoczky, who reported a balance of $1165.51 in the branch account. In the previous years, our branch could decide upon contributions to the HRFA Student Aid Fund and other local charities. However, in view of the fact that the 1996 HRFA Convention will be held in New Brunswick, the consensus was to forgo our usual charitable
