Page 10 TESTVÉRISÉG BRANCH NEWS BRANCH 31 - LORAIN, OH Congratulations to Mr. Maynard Husty and his wife Helen who celebrated 70 years of happy marriage this year. Mr. Husty is 95 years old and Helen is 88. They have two children, a son and a daughter, eight grandchildren and eight great­grandchildren. Mr. & Mrs. Husty were married in Hungary and lived in Canada for several years. In 1943, they moved to Lorain. They are both members of the HRFA since 1945. Mr. Husty is in a nursing home and Mrs. Husty visits him every day. She looks forward to each new day when she can be with her husband. We wish them God’s blessings. Anikó Andrea Szucs Congratulations to Anikó Andrea Szucs, daughter of Rt.Rev. and Mrs. Zoltán Szucs. Anikó ranked fourth in her class at Lorain High School. Her honors include: Presidential Academic Fitness Award; recognition by the City of Lorain for academic excellence, graduating in top 2% of the class of 1993; National Honor Society; Ohio Mock Trial Outstanding Witness and Poem Publications. She received a scholarship from Kent State University Honors Book Allowance. She will be attending Kent State University with a double major in pre-veterinary medicine and zoology. She wants to become a veterinarian so she can devote her life to saving the lives of animals. Anikó will be representing the Hungarian Nationality as the Hungarian princess of the Lorain International Festival. Our best wishes to Anikó for success and happiness in her future plans. Meeting of Branch 31 was held on January 24, 1993 at 2:20 P.M. The meeting was opened by Branch President Roberta Aros with a prayer offered by Teresa Simone. Branch activities in the past year included: Contributions made to the Heart Fund, Cancer Society, Salvation Army, Catholic charities. Memorial gifts were sent to the Hungarian Reformed Church, Bethlen Home, St. Joseph Hospice Unit, Ohio Extended Nursing Home. Wakes and funeral services were attended for nine members in 1992. Members who are ill are remembered with get well cards. There were 16 new members enrolled into our branch. Amy Clark received the Student Aid Scholarship in 1992, and she expressed her appreciation for the help she received. We supported the Bethlen Home Bazaar and will continue to do so in the future. Officers elected for 1993 were: Roberta Aros, President; Teresa Simone, Vice President; Emma Aros, Secretary-Treasurer. Emma Aros, Branch Manager-Secretary BRANCH 35 - DETROIT, MI On March 14, 1993, Br. 35 held its meeting at the American Hungarian Reformed Church, Allen Park, MI. Now that the district office has been sold, the Church will serve as the new meeting place for our branch gatherings. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. by Branch President Amy Kulcsár. Also in attendance were Branch Manager Mrs. Ethel Teghze Gerber and Director Samuel Vespremi. The opening prayer was said by the Branch President, and a moment of silent prayer was held as the Branch Manager read the names of the deceased members of our branch. May God grant them eternal rest. Minutes of the last meeting were read by the Secretary and accepted by Ethel Vig and Paul Korody. Motion was made by Ethel Vig to keep the officers elected last year. Motion was carried by Margaret New, Helen & Maynard Husty
