FRATERNITY Page 11 NEW SECRETARY and TREASURER of the HRFA It is my privilege to introduce to you the new Secretary, Endre Csornán, and the new Treasurer, Suzanne S. Virgulák, of the Federation. I have known and worked with Endre and Suzanne for many years in behalf of the Federation. Together we have shared many challenging times, and I now look forward with much anticipation to our continued cooperation. Endre Csornán, Secretary Endre is a member of the Federation since 1965. He served as Manager of Branch 151 in Beaver Falls, PA from 1967 until 1984 when he was elected to the National Board of Directors of the HRFA. At the 33rd Annual Convention in 1988, he was elected as Vice President of the Board of Directors. And, at the 34th Convention in 1992, he was elected Secretary of the HRFA. Besides achieving a high sales productivity as a branch manager, he devoted much of his time and energy in planning and organizing numerous civic and social activities on local and national levels. He was instrumental in organizing the Ligonier picnics for the past six years. Endre is a member and Clerk of Session of the Third Ave. Presbyterian Church (Magyar) in Beaver Falls, PA; an active member of the Hungarian Club in Ellwood City and the Hungarian Social Club in Pittsburgh. He serves as a member on the Board of Trustees of the Museum and Archives Committee of the Bethlen Home. He is also member of the Board of Directors of the American Hungarian Federation. I am convinced that Endre will represent the best interests of the Federation with the ability, strength and dedication that the Lord has given him. Suzanne is a life-long member of the Federation and represents the second generation of Sontras in our society. She was the Manager of Branch 52 in So. Norwalk, CT from 1981 until the day she assumed her new position as Treasurer of the HRFA. Prior to her election as Treasurer, Suzanne served on the Board of Directors for 8 years and has obtained her Fraternal Insurance Counsellor (FIC) certificate in 1990. Suzanne S. Virgulák, Treasurer She has been actively involved in church work at the Hungarian Reformed Church in So. Norwalk, CT. Over a span of twenty-five years, she served as a Consistory member, Secretary of the Consistory (1 term), Sunday School teacher for many years, Church Secretary, and Chairperson of many committees. She also served a six- year term as the Calvin Synod Delegate to the United Church Board for Homeland Ministries (UCC). Suzanne is the first elected woman in the history of the Federation to serve as an officer, thus closing the gender gap in a generally “male-dominated” society. We all wish her success in her new role as Treasurer of the Federation. A warm welcome to Endre and Suzanne. George Dózsa, President
