FRATERNITY Page 13 RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED the 34TH CONVENTION of THE HUNGARIAN REFORMED FEDERATION of AMERICA The 34th Convention of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America was opened at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 21, 1992 with a Worship Service at the Wesley Theological Seminary Chapel, Washington, D.C., which is the worship place of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Washington, D.C. Participants in liturgical order were: Dezső Abraham; Imre Bertalan; George Dózsa; Louis Medgyesi; István Mustos; Nicholas Novák; William B. Puskas; Ministry of Music: Priscilla Hunyady; Ushers: Béla Tóth and Sándor Taraszovics. The offering of the service was donated to three members of our Society in Florida who were victims of Hurricane Andrew. At noon the delegates and guests were invited by the Home Office, Branch 300, Washington, D.C., to a luncheon at the Kossuth House. The 34th Convention was officially opened by Rev. Dr. Imre Bertalan, President, at 2:39 P.M., at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in Rockville, Maryland. Rt.Rev. Zoltán Szűcs offered the opening prayer. Members of the Convention recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America led by Edward Bihary, veteran of WW II. Alexander Jalso was seated as the Recording Secretary of the Convention. Nicholas Novak was appointed to be the Parliamentarian. Aladar Komjáthy was seated as Media Consultant. Chairman of the Credential Committee, Vice President Endre Csornán, reported the findings of the committee in the matter: Tegze vs. Vajda. Based on the evidence, the committee recommended to the Plenary Session of the Convention that Steve Vajda, Br. 93, be seated as the delegate from the combined grouping of Br. 13, 44/93, 404 (District of New Jersey). Alternate Elizabeth Schmidt was recommended to be seated as the delegate from the Ohio District, Br. 165, replacing delegate-elect Rt.Rev. Tibor Dömötör, who could not attend the Convention due to a business commitment. President Bertalan called upon the Secretary of the Convention to read the official list of delegates to the 34th Convention of the HRFA. All elected delegates were present with the exception of Joseph A. Kovach, Br. 2, Ohio District, due to illness. Based upon the roll call, the 59 delegates constituted the 34th Convention. Next on the agenda was the presentation of the report of the National Officers, Board of Directors and Advisors. William Puskas, Jr. made a motion to waive the reading of the reports of the President, the Vice President- Secretary, and the Treasurer. Motion was carried. Dezső Abraham read the report of the Board of Directors. His report was accepted. The reports of the Bethlen Home, Legal Counsel, Medical Director, and Financial Counselors were referred to the respective committees. The standing committees were approved as presented as were the appointed committees. The meeting of the first day of the Convention was adjourned at 3:30 P.M. The banquet was held in the Grand Ballroom of the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza. Prayer was given by Rt.Rev. Dr. Stephen Szabó, honorary Vice President of the Federation. Greetings were extended by Rt.Rev. Dr. Zoltán Szucs, in behalf of the Calvin Synod; Fa. István Mustos, representing the Hungarian Catholic community; Mr. Csaba Szabó, in behalf of H.E. Pál Tar, Ambassador of Hungary; Rev. Paul Kovács of the Bethlen Home, Ligonier, Pennsylvania; Mr. Elmer E. Vargo, National President of the William Penn Association. Speaker of the evening was Samuel V. Convery, Jr., Mayor of the Township of Edison, New Jersey. The Convention convened with meetings of the three standing committees: the Executive and Organization Committee; the Administrative Committee, and the Finance and Auditing Committee. Upon their recommendation to the Plenary Session, the following resolutions were adopted: THAT BRANCH MANAGERS/AGENTS BE ENCOURAGED TO UPDATE THEIR INSURANCE KNOWLEDGE. THAT THE FIELD PERSONNEL TAKING SUCH COURSES BE REIMBURSED FOR SAME. THAT THE AREA MANAGER SYSTEM, WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON PROVIDING CONTINUING EDUCATION TO BRANCH MANAGERS/AGENTS, BE CONTINUED AND PERIODICALLY EVALUATED. ALSO, WITH THE HELP OF THE
