Many members of the branch participated in the gatherings, meetings, lectures of the New York Hungarian House, as well as at the yearly Hungarian Protestant Ball on November 8, 1991, held in the Wayne Manor, New Jersey. Four members of Branch 369 living in Vienna, Austria, made convoys of 1 to 12 cars, microbuses and trucks to Transylvania for the oppressed Hungarian minority in Rumania, transporting hospital beds, medication, office equipment, food, clothing, etc., and this they did five times during 1991. Elderly members were regularly visited: the widow of count Bela Teleki in the Cardinal Cook Home in New York (by Margit Hamos and E. Gabriella Mauthner) and a former very old member of the branch: Mrs. Anna Price (formerly Edith Sipos) who is bedridden was visited by Otto Hamos. Officers elected for 1992 are: Otto Hamos, President; Esteban Grof-Tisza, Vice President; Otto Hamos, Treasurer; Leslie Bihary, Recording- Secretary; E. Gabriella Mauthner, Comptroller. Next meeting will be held on April 12, 1992 for the delegate election meeting and to discuss plans for a summer picnic. Otto Hamos Branch Manager BRANCH 378 - SAN JOSE, CA Presiding officer Margaret H. Saltzer, Branch Manager, called the meeting to order on January 19, 1992 at 1:00 p.m. It was reported that in lieu of flowers for deceased member Mr. George F. Bako, a memorial donation was sent to the Student Aid Fund. Branch Manager gave overview of HRFA's past history, present goals, the importance of re-activating Branch 378, the agenda of this Annual Meeting. Branch officers were elected for the year: Rev. Eugene Katona, President; Irene Tosaky, Vice President; István Pataky, Treasurer; Violette Katona, Secretary. Branch activities suggested include the following fraternal, cultural activities: a recitation contest; a Hungarian language summer study program for youth; a Hungarian folk-art exhibit. On national level, Branch 378 recommends that a facility such as the Bethlen Nursing Home and/or Retirement Village be implemented in California where there is a great need for it, and where the mild climate is most favorable. Date for the delegate election meeting was set for May 3,1992. Margaret H. Saltzer Branch Manager BRANCH 501 - METUCHEN, NJ Branch meeting was held on December 29, 1991 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Auditorium in Perth Amboy, NJ. The meeting was called to order by Presiding Officer John Krilla and opened with a prayer by Director Michael Pauli. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as well as the Treasurer's report. Mention was made of the Christmas donations to St. Michael's Church, Basilian Fathers of Maria Poch and Perth Amboy Branch of the Salvation Army. At the meeting plans were furthered for a dinner-dance to be held on March 1, 1992 for the benefit of the Scholarship Fund. Report was also given on the distribution of candy to all children attending Christmas liturgies. Plans were furthered for swim-gym outing sometime in February or March. Officers elected for 1992 were: John Krilla, President; Donna Balut, Vice President; Lawrence Toth, Treasurer; Marilyn Kish, Secretary; Nicholas Szilagyi, Fraternal Chairman.
