Puskas, Treasurer LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Dear Sir: We wish to thank the Hungarian Reformed Federation for their generous gift. This is a very difficult time for us and just knowing that there are people like you who care, makes it somewhat easier. Dezső is now in remission. He has finished receiving his large doses of chemotherapy. He is now on a 2V2 year maintenance program, which involves medications daily, shots once a week, given by me at home, and spinal taps every other month. So we still have a long way to go, but thanks to God, everything seems to be going well. The doctors seem to be very positive on his full recovery. Once again we wish to thank you for all your help. Ilona & Edward Duerr and Dezső ÜZENET DEBRECENBŐL Kedves Imre Bátyám: n Őszinte örömmel tájékoztatlak, hogy az MTA Atommagkutató Intézet által meghirdetett országos pályázaton 2 diákunk 2. helyezést ért el a Tőletek kapott fizikai eszözök segítségével. Horkay Gyula Dear Rev. Bertalan: I am writing to you on behalf of my son Joseph Ragan and my family. My son lived with us in Pennsylvania for 33 years, then I retired from the railroad and moved to Florida. My son got married here about 7 months ago and got sick. We took him to the hospital and before they operated on him, his blood count showed that he had leukemia. The hospital referred us to a Dr. Balister at the Moffit Cancer Center, where he is on a program to control his blood count until he can find someone who will donate bone marrow to save his life. If we can find him a donor, he has an 80% chance of getting well again. All of my family came from Hungary and belonged to the Federation in Pittsburgh, PA. (At present our agent is Arlene Csornán.) I am writing you because the doctor told us that since Joe is Hungarian, there is a better chance of a donor match from someone who is Hungarian. Your Fraternity magazine, Testvériség is distributed all over the country and I don't know if you can help, but in Hungary they may also have a donor program. I don't know how to go about finding out, but if, through the Fraternity, you could help find a donor for my Joe, we would be grateful to you all. I would appreciate your help and would like to hear from you. Albert Ragan, 6420 Pinehurst Dr., Springhill, Florida 34606 Phone: (904) 686-3003 Dear Rev. Bertalan: I would like to thank the HRFA for sponsoring the Cantemus Pro Musica and Piccoli Archi Hungarian children orchestra and choir. Because of the endeavors of the HRFA, my family enjoyed a truly entertaining performance in addition to a culturally enriching experience when we were a host family for two of the choir members. Despite their short stay, we bonded instantly. When we parted, it was amidst many kisses, hugs, and smiles along with exchanged addresses and promises to correspond. It was an experience that made many happy memories for my family, and I hope we provided the same for Tünde and Csilla.
