FRATERNITY Page 17 menekülthelyzet politikailag rendeződni fog. Meg is kell tennünk minden lehetőt ennek érdekében: demonstrációk, áldozathozatal és érte való imádkozás formájában." Steve Vajda, osztálykezelö BRANCH 151-BEAVER FALLS, PA Branch 151 held its first meeting of 1989 to elect officers for the year. Election results were as follows: Paul Farkas, President; Frank Wilson, Vice President; Peggy Fabri, Recording Secretary; Alex Varady, Treasurer; Helen Wilson, Comptroller; Endre Csornán, Corresponding Secretary. The Beaver Falls Branch of the HRFA again participated in the annual block party held downtown Beaver Falls. Charle's Barber Shop was the location of our colorful Hungarian booth. The branch sold bogrács gulyás and kolbász sandwiches made by Endre Csornán, Alex Varady, Paul Farkas and Joe Fabri. Peggy Fabri, Hazel Farkas, Nadine and Arlene Csornán, along with the above men, served many people from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. A very special added attraction to our booth was the craft table of Betty and Bob Kurtz, who create Hungarian patterns on aprons and other articles. The day proved to be a day of true Hungarian spirit. We especially enjoyed the Hungarian music which was pepped over our colorful sidewalk cafe. We made new acquaintances and visited with many old friends. At the age of 92, Mrs. Lengyel is the oldest member of Branch 168. Eleanor Kopp, Branch Manager BRANCH 227-WARREN, OH Elizabeth Nagy is a member of the Federation for 60 years. Her letter is so interesting and lively that we thought our readers would enjoy reading it as much as we did: "Please accept my very sincere, although tardy thanks for the lovely bouquet of red roses and the delicious cake presented to me on May 28th by Bill and Marge Nicholas from the "Egyesület." We all enjoyed the cake for dessert after lunch. I don't know how much Marge has told you about the work my husband Joseph and I are doing to keep the "Magyar" heritage alive in our community. My husband came from Hungary in 1951, but I was born in this country and speak and write the Hungarian language fluently. We haven't had a bi-lingual service since 1973 when Rev. Leslie Borsay left the church. This church is a merger of the Hungarian Presbyterian (later Second Presbyterian Church) and the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ. Our former pastor, Rev. Stephen Murányi of Florida, supplied us with Hungarian sermons weekly for 8-10 months. Since Joe worked 3 shifts, it was too much on a weekly basis, so we decided on the monthly service. All those attending our Hungarian service go to the English service before ours. Joe preaches every month, and after the service a friend of ours, my Italian son-in-law, and I serve lunch that I cook there. Our daughter speaks Hungarian and is church organist and choir director for both services. We average between 12 and 18 attending. Eliz Nagy, 60-year member of the Federation, together with Bill Nicholas, President of Br. 221
