FRATERNITY Page 5 feladata. A Bizottságban az Egyesületet dr. Bertalan Imre elnök, Csornán Endre alelnök és Hunyady Piroska igazgató, az egyházakat dr. Bütösi János, Illés Lajos és Jalsó Sándor képviseli. Az Igazgatóság elfogadta a Bethlen Otthon hosszú távlati jövő-terve kidolgozásának a gondolatát is. EGYESÜLETÜNK IGAZGATÓSÁGI GYŰLÉSE Megvalósult az illetékes konvenciók döntése alapján egységünk a Szent György néven ismert magyar görögkatolikus egyesülettel. Nem tűnt el a nagymultú Szent György, hanem osztály szinten él nevében és folytatja szolgálatát. Bizony, jó lett volna, ha a régi nagy testvérsegítők ilyen újszerű egységben élhettek volna tovább, és nem tűntek volna el amerikai magyar életünkből a nagy nevek, mint Kossuth, Rákóczi és Verhovay, és a többiek. Az Igazgatóság gyűlésének utolsó napján nagyfontosságú tanácskozás volt a Tagszerző Bizottsággal, amelynek tagjai: St. Miklósy Albert, dr. Hámos Ottó, Saltzer Margit, John Morey, William Áros és Julius Simon voltak. Igen értékes tervek születtek a tagszerzés terén. Ligonierban találkoztunk. A szolgálat, a közös elhívatás és a holnap közös munkálásának jegyében búcsúztunk, hogy Isten segítségével megvalósíthassuk azt, amit tőlünk, a széttagoltságában is egymáshoz tartozó magyarságtól Isten ebben a történelmi pillanatban elvár, itt és az óhazában, az elszakított részeken és a szétszóratásban. Bertalan Imre THE PRESIDENT’S CORNER LIGONIER 1989 The traditional Ligonier Days of 1989 will be remembered as a very significant milestone in the almost one-hundred year old history of our American Hungarian Reformed Life. Our Federation and all the Hungarian Reformed church bodies in the United States and Canada invited the Presiding Bishop of the General Synod of the Reformed Church of Hungary, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Elemér Kocsis to visit us and his presence and service in Ligonier will always be remembered as the historical first such event. According to our knowledge there has never been a similar official visit of the Presiding Bishop of the Reformed Church of Hungary at the invitation of the entire community. There is a lesson to be learned from this event, if our Federation and all our church bodies act in unison and in one spirit miracles may happen, through the grace of God.
