Mrs. Alex Kayatin, Branch Manager BRANCH 238—YOUNGSTOWN, OH The branch members' Szalonna Sutes was held on October 8, 1989 at the American-Hungarian Club picnic grounds. It was a huge success and all had a good time. The special out of town guest was Julius Morey from Las Vegas, Neveda, the brother of Branch Manager, Margaret Dubos. He really enjoyed himself and is eagerly looking forward to the next Szalonna Sutes. On December 4, 1988 a meeting was held at the American-Hungarian Reformed Church in Youngstown, OH. Our President, Tilly Tatar, called the meeting to order, and the opening prayer was said by all under the leadership of Margaret Dubos. The minutes were approved as read by Dorothy Mislevy and seconded by Arthur Tatar. The Treasurer's report was read and approved by James Hohvart and seconded by Nancy Barry. The entertainment committee gave its report on the Bacon Fry held on October 8,1988, which was a great success, and recommended that we keep up the tradition by having this picnic annually, only earlier in the month of August. Margaret Dubos stated that the Halloween bags donated by the HRFA were given to the Sunday School children who were very happy to receive them. Mrs. Dubos also gave a report on her visit to our shut-in member, Mrs. Adam Hohvart, who is 96 years old. The election of officers was held and the following officers were reelected: Tilly Tatar, President; James Hohvart, Vice President; Margaret Dubos, Secretary- Treasurer. Margaret Dubos, Branch Manager BRANCH 281 -WADSWORTH, OH The officers elected for 1989 are: Charles Savage, President; Carole Moore, Vice President; Steven Savage, Treasurer; Phyllis Evans, Secretary. He further urged the members to support Hungarian minorities in Romania; the Gabor Geczy Fund and the local Church. The branch officers for 1989 are: Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz, President; Rev. Bela Poznan, Vice President; Gizella Lenart, Secretary. Vilma Vitéz, Branch Manager BRANCH 300—WASHINGTON, D.C. The yearly picnic of Branch 300 at the Taba Farm seems to have become a tradition as this year again we were all invited for a Disznótoros on Sunday, March 5, 1989. Despite the cool, very rainy weather and the flu season, the attendence was surprisingly overwhelming. We enjoyed the excellent dishes, all exquisitely prepared by Taba Janos, his wife Rosika, his sons and daughters-in-law—especially Rosika's töltöttkáposzta for which their former restaurant, "The Old Budapest", was so well-known. The spirits were jovial and everyone seemed to have a good time. Late afternoon, the small but dedicated and already renowed choir, composed of our Home Office staff and members of the branch, gathered for a rehersal under the baton of President Imre Bertalan, in anticipation of the March 15 celebration. (This will be the choir's second public performance and the rehearsal sounded again very promising.) As the early evening hours approached, we said our goodbyes, thanking the Taba Family for their graciousness and wonderful hospitality. Thank you, Taba Family and hope to see you next year again. It was a very unique and happy occasion when the marriage between László Szabó and Lori Parker Westerman was celebrated in the Home Office on February 28, 1989. Reverend Imre Bertalan performed the ceremony in the presence of Mrs. Walter Parker, the bride's mother, and all Home Office employees. Lori Parker-Szabo, Rev.
