Discussion was held on the different types of insurance plans that were available. The rest of the evening was spent playing cards and all had a good time. The next meeting is scheduled for June 19, 1989 at 7:30 p.m. at Margaret Bodo's home. John Bodo Jr. John Bodo, Jr., age 66, died Thursday, November 10, 1988 after a long illness. He was a life resident of Canton, Ohio, graduating from McKindly High School in 1939. An employee of the Diebold Co. for 43 years, he retired in 1982. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve, and a life member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder and Trustee. He was also a member of Co-Weds, McKinley Lodge 431 F&A.M., A. A.S.R. Valley of Canton, Diebold Retirees Club and formerly with Perry Twp. 1 Fire Dept. John Bodo, Jr. was a life member of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and Manager of Branch 140 for many years before his illness. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Szekeres) Bodo, daughter Margaret Ann Reed of Canton, sons David of Carollton, John III of Canton, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brothers Steve and Elmer Bodo; sisters Mrs. Anna Rooney and Mrs. Elizabeth Brinkley. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 14,1988 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, Pastor S. James Kocsis officiated. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Rounds, Secretary. Steve Jjidich, Branch Manager BRANCH 176—GARY, IN Our first meeting of the year was held on January 2, 1989 at 2:00 p.m. at the Simon's residence at 8035 Hendricks, Merrillville. Father Skerl performed the opening prayer, which was followed by the reading of the minutes and the Treasurer's report—both were unanimously accepted. We then discussed the 1988 activities of the branch, namely: The help we provided to clubs when organizing various Hungarian events; the support we extended at church functions, and to all those that needed our assistance; the support given to the Federation by organizing various drives to get new members. Discussion followed on the goals for 1989. We plan to continue providing the same support as we have extended in the past and hope to even expand our role in the community. We would like to strengthen our beloved Federation, so that it may continue to enjoy successful years. The officers elected for 1989 are: Fa. Julius Simon, Branch Manager BRANCH 181-GRAND RAPIDS, Ml Ma 80 esztenedeje, 1909. január 9-én hajnali ötkor jöttem a világra a budapesti Rókus kórházban. A Mennyei Atyánknak köszönhetem, hogy 80 esztendős élettel ajándékozott meg, bár én is belesegítettem. Igen mértékletes életet éltem. Nem voltam az alkoholnak kedvelője, nem dohányzom, kávét néha délutánonként fogyasztok, de cukor nélkül. Amióta az eszemet tudom, reggelire mindig házi készítésű levest ettem, úgyszintén a Joli leányom is. Bár az első világháború idején nevelkedtem, nem tudom, volt-e tejjegy. Még ha lett is volna, Maglódon abban az időben nem volt tejelosztó hely. A férfiakat besorozták katonának. A feleségek nem tudták megfelelően ellátni a teheneket, inkább eladták a vágóhídra. így téli időben hazai rummal ízesített teát iszom mézzel. A mézben megtalálható minden, amire a szervezetnek szüksége van. Rumot használok a diós és mákos beiglihez is, a túrós, s lekváros buktához is. December hónapban háromszor is sütöttem nagyobb mennyiségben, s adtam az újonnan érkezett menekülteknek is, akik közül a nők bevallják, hogy sem sütni, sem főzni nem tudnak. Az ó hazában vállalati konyháról étkeztek, nem volt szükség az otthoni fő- zőcskézésekre.
