The election of officers for 1989 followed. Louis Hercsik made the motion that the 1988 officers remain in their present function. However, since President Buj doso did not wish to be reelected, Samuel Vespremi was nominated and elected as President. Also elected were: John Bujdoso, Jr., Vice President; Louise Vespremi, Secretary; James Kish, Treasurer; Ilona Kulchar, Auditor; Ethel Teghze-Gerber, Correspond­ing Secretary. The oath was administered to the officers by Amy Kulchar and the newly elected President announced that the next meeting would be in April and that the members would be notified accordingly. There being no other business on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m. Motion was made by Marge Kish, seconded by Ethel Teghze-Gerber. Refreshments followed. Suzanne S. Virgulák, Branch Manager BRANCH 62-EAST CHICAGO, IND Members of Branch 62 gathered for their regular quarterly meeting on Sunday, January 22, 1989 at 6:00 p.m. at Maria Kovacs's residence. István Bujtor, Branch President, greeted the members present and opened the meeting. Joseph Kovács, former Manager of Branch 62 and a newly elected member of the Board of Directors, announced a new leadership in Branch 62, namely that effective January 1, 1989, Maria Z. Kovács was appointed new Branch Manager by the Home Office. Members gave their approval. Maria then greeted everyone and talked about last year's activities, such as the annual picnic and the ethnic and cultural fair. Both were successful. She thanked the neighboring branches for their hard work and cooperation. "We will do it again," said Maria. She also asked everyone's help, "to conquer the only problem we are facing, namely the declining membership." She got some promises. Next order of business was the election of branch officers. The following members were elected for 1989: Tibor Kaminszky, President; Joseph Szilagyi, Vice President; Joseph Kovács, Treasurer; Gizella Lengyel, Secretary. Maria Z. After the opening prayer by Louis Reszoly and the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and the Treasurer's report, discus­sion followed on the subject of how to get new members for the HRFA and how to raise more monies for donation to the Bethlen Museum and Archives. So far our branch made the following donations: Mr. & Mrs. Louis Barabas $50; Louis Reszoly $50; Olga Reszoly $50; Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Molnár $25; Helen Haynal $20; Mr. & Mrs. Frank Rózsahegyi $20; Elizabeth Szalai $10; Mr. & Mrs. Sándor Barabas, Mr. & Mrs. László Kalmancy, Mr. & Mrs. Karoly Makos, Mr. & Mrs. Louis Mocsi, Anna Nagy, Frank Nagy, Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Pataki, Helen Stefan, Mr. & Mrs. Louis Szepesi—each donated $5. The 1989 branch officers were then elected: Frank Nagy, President; Elizabeth Mocsi, Vice President; Louis Barabas, Treasurer; Klara Barabas, Secretary.
