FRATERNITY Page 9 STUDENT AID We are always happy to be able to provide our students with some financial assistance, thus helping them defray rising college expenses. The following students have received a monetary gift provided by the Student Aid & Loan Fund of the Federation. Lawrice Brazel, member of Branch 215, is a junior at Rutgers University, NJ, where she has consistently made the Deans’s List in all her past semesters. She writes, “Aside from studies, I work part time and have been involved in Lawrice Brazel numerous school activities, including writing for the university paper. Thank you again for a gift that will help me continue my education here at Rutgers University.” Kathy R. Csornán, daughter of Branch Manager 151, Arlene, and director Andy Csornán, writes, “I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to the Federation and to the members of the Executive Board for graciously sending me a monetary gift to aid me in my studies at the Janus Pannonius University in Pecs, Flungary, this summer. Rev. Bertalan was correct in stating that all students are in need of money. Due to complications with a travel agent, I was forced to pay double the amount I had originally intended for my air fare. The monetary gift was truly a blessing, again I thank you. The Lord has blessed me so much by allowing me this opportunity to study in the land of my heritage and to finally meet my relatives. I praise God for allowing me to do this. I am so proud to be a Hungarian and I am proud to be a member of a Fraternal Society steeped in the Hungarian Tradition and Religious Tradition. I hope that one day I may return my gratitude through hard work for the Federation. I will take many pictures and many notes, so that I may share my experience with everyone. And I am hoping to learn enough Hungarian that I may correspond in that manner, and so that I may read the Fraternity from cover to cover!” Patricia A. Karikas of Branch 235 is 31 years old and is majoring in accounting at the Community College of Allegheny County-South Campus. She is planning to earn her Associates Degree at the end of 1988, at which time she would enroll at Robert Morris College to earn her Bachelor’s degree. She writes: “1 had been working at G.C. Murphy Company for eleven years as a bookkeeper, when my job was eliminated due to a corporate take-over. However, I was employed within two weeks in my present position as a full-charge bookkeeper for Gregg Developmental Services, a partnership in real estate development. It was also at this time that I decided to go back to school to increase my prospects on the employment scene. As I am not reimbursed for any educational expenses by my employer, the financial help you have given me is greatly appreciated.” Kathy Meszlenyi, member of Branch 4, thanked us for our aid which would help pay for her tuition at Cuyahoga Community College, where she is currently enrolled in business and accounting courses. Her goal is to be a Certified Public Accountant. Kathy Meszlenyi
