FRATERNITY Page 27 Letter from Student Aid recipient: “I would like to extend my deepest gratitude and thanks to the Hungarian Reformed Federation for its generous scholarship gift to me. Being a recipient, I can contend to the significance of the Student Aid Fund. Thank you again for helping to ease the burden of school costs for my family and me. Since childhood, I have been aware of the work of the Federation, and I hope someday that I can take part in the fraternal work by being a aprt of the team! I wish you God’s blessing, Kathy Csornán PITTSBURGH, PA On November 1, 1986 The Hungarian Reformed Federation celebrated their 90th Anniversary with a Gala Magyar Bal at the Holiday Inn, Wilkensburg, Pa. Residents of the Pgh area, members and friends of The Federation from Cleveland and Youngstown, Ohio, Sharon, New Castle, Beaver Falls, Ligonier, PA, came together for this joyous occasion. All of the national officers and their wifes were in attendance and ministers from the area Hungarian churches were recognized. Sharing the dias as speakers, were President Bertalan and The Honorable Judge Robert Horgos. President Bertalan spoke about the heart of our Federation, which makes our insurance society different from all the others. Scripture tells us that man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart! Surely this is the secret of the existence of our Federation and the new life that has been generated these past years. To start the festivities several young ladies were presented as debutanes. A raffle was held with Hungarian prizes, topped off with the Grand Prize of a diamond ring. It was won by Mrs. Joseph Molnár, a fitting tribute for many years of faithful work with the Federation. Then the maestro began and the dance floor swelled to the music of Kalman Hegedűs. Thanks to all of the people who helped in the tremendous undertaking of such an event. Especially Mrs. Clara Csikesz and her husband Bela, their sons Joseph and Bela, daughter Maryann and her husband Sándor Bajusz. Special thanks to my wife Arlene, sons and daughters. It was wonderful to be together in Christian fellowship — with good food, good music and our Hungarian heart. Endre Csornán, Director BRANCH 158 - VESTABURG The election meeting was held on January 15th. The opening prayer was given by Mary Patrick. A discussion followed concerning the payment of dues, reaching out for new members and trying to have more people attend meetings in spite of the large distances involved. A membership drive will be conducted — each member will talk with relatives and try to get new members. Discussion was also held on collection of clothing for the community and collection of articles of arts and crafts for distribution when visiting the nursing homes. The following were elected to office: Irene Sinclair, president-treasurer; Mary Patrick, vice president; Debbie Noska, secretary. The next meeting will be held March 15th. BRANCH 198 - LIGONIER, PA Paul T. Kovács, son of Rev. & Mrs. Paul Kovács has become the administrator of Mount St. George Home for the Elderly in Wellsburg, WV. He is following in the footsteps of his father, the administrator of the Bethlen Home. Paul’s interest was developed during his years of assisting his parents with all aspects of caring for the elderly at the Bethlen Home. At 27 years of age, we’re sure he is one of the youngest administrators in the country! Congratulations are in order for this young man who is using his many talents in service to others! God bless him in his continued good work! BRANCH 300 - WASHINGTON, DC Tamas Stirling, whose mother Anni works in our Underwriting Dept., is a recipient of our Student Aid.
