FRATERNITY Page 15 Celebration of the HRFA’s 90th anniversary in 1986. Branch Manager informs members that a meeting will be held with District Manager T. Dolinsky to discuss possible plans. A report shall be made to members at the next meeting. The Branch Manager next reports to the members recent local activities: Hungarian Bibles were presented to the 5 newly confirmed members of the First E. and R. Church of Los Angeles by the Branch Manager as a personal remembrance of the occasion, with the thought that the Bible with its teachings provides enrichment and inspiration, and a Hungarian Bible helps keep alive your Hungarian language, heritage and tradition. A birthday celebration was held at the First Hungarian E. & R. Church of Los Angeles honoring the Rev. A. Szabó, Pastor Emeritus, on the occasion of his 85th birthday. The Rev. and Mrs. A. Szabó, together with their daughter, Margaret Saltzer, have served the HRFA as Branch Managers for 33 consecutive years in Los Angeles. The HRFA has claimed Rev. and Mrs. Szabo’s 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren as members. Seated: Mrs. S. Patocs, Rev. and Mrs. A. Szabó; Standing: Rev. S. Patocs, Rev. C. Hcthalmi, Margaret Saltzer, Tibor Dolinsky. The Rev. Sándor Patocs, with the cooperation of the HRFA prepared a “testimonial booklet” with greetings from many of his colleagues and friends. Many thanks to the Rev. Patocs for the planning, preparation, and presentation of this booklet and the program at this memorable occasion were expressed by the Rev. Szabó and B. M. Margaret Saltzer. The next topic for discussion by the members were plans for local branch activities: How to increase membership? After a lengthy discussion, a suggestion was made by Vice President I. Szász to request the Home Office to print bi-lingual “mailers” to reach the many newcomers from Transylvania. Branch 259 requests that these be printed as soon as possible. Local activities suggested: 1. A picnic in July or August 2. A “Heritage Award” program in November 3. A “Federation” Sunday to be held at the 1st Hungarian D & R Church — the sermon to be correlated with the value of fraternalism and helping others. The Rev. S. Patocs will seek approval from the Consistory; with the request to have a special collection for the benefit of the Scholarship Fund. After a closing prayer by the Rev. Anthony Szabó, the meeting was adjourned. Margaret H. Saltzer Nt. Szabó Antal, egyesületünk hűséges tagja és munkása, valamint szeretett családja életére ezúton is kérjük Isten áldását.
