Page 8 TESTVÉRISÉG STATUE OF LIBERTY CAMPAIGN As members of the National Fraternal Congress we are supportive of the restoration on the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. In July of 1984, the Liberty Centennial Campaign was launched to raise the $230 million needed to restore the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island to their former lustre and to celebrate their centenary dates in 1986 and 1992 respectively. The HRFA endorses this project. A goal in the form of a pledge will be set at the next Board of Directors meeting. Local branches and individuals are urged to contribute to this worthwhile project and send donations to the Statue of Liberty Fund, HRFA, Box 34917, Bethesda, MD 20817. A SZABADSÁG SZOBORÉRT Felavatásának századik évfordulójára, 1986-ra restaurálják a híres műalkotást. A terv kivitelezésének költségeit egyének és intézmények adományai fedezik. A szobor alapzatának megépítéséhez szükséges pénzösszeg előteremtésében nagy szerepe volt Pulitzer József világhírű lapkiadó mozgalmán keresztül az amerikai magyarságnak. Az országos jellegű gyűjtési munkából most sem maradhatunk ki. Bizonyára megtaláljuk a módját egyének és magyar szervezetek adományainak koordinálására. Az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyesület, a testvérsegítő intézmények országos szövetsége mozgalmába bekapcsolódva, magáévá tette az ügyet. Máris kérjük tagjainkat, helyi osztályainkat, hogy rendezzenek gyűjtést erre a célra. Az osztályokban tartandó ünnepélyeken vegyük körül megkülönböztetett tisztelettel azokat a keveseket, akik Ellis Islandon keresztül érkeztek a szabadság földjére. Készítsünk felvételeket, hangszalagokat ligonieri gyűjteményünk számára. Az egyéni és osztály-adományokat juttassuk el központi hivatalunkba, a Statue of Liberty Fund, HRFA alapra. Bertalan Imre elnök DID YOU IMMIGRATE THROUGH ELLIS ISLAND? The Ellis Island Oral History Project is urgently looking for 200 special Americans who immigrated through Ellis Island between 1892-1954. Of particular interest are individuals who immigrated before 1925. Taped interviews will be conducted with selected candidates throughout the country over the next year. Their recollections will become a permanent part of the Ellis Island Museum as well as of the Bethlen Archives and Museum, Ligonier, PA. Secure a place in history.
