Page 18 TESTVÉRISÉG BRANCH 165, AKRON, OH The members of the HRFA met at the home of Branch Manager Elizabeth Patonai in December with 11 members present. President John Su- nyecz opened the meeting, Joseph Miller led in prayer. Mrs. Sala, secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting which were approved and accepted. Mrs. Patonai announced the passing of one of our members, Frank Race. The Federation sent flowers. She asked for a moment of silent prayer for all members who passed away in 1984. Mrs. Patonai reported that new certificates were difficult to obtain this year outside of the ones that were written up from the Lorantffy Care Center for which business she extends her sincere thanks to the Rt. Rev. Domotor. Due to the working conditions, it has been difficult to increase the membership. Many members have cashed in their certificate for the cash value. The election of officers for 1985 followed. It was moved by Lois Miller and seconded, that the present officers remain for 1985 — John Sunyecz, president; Irene Nagy, vice-president; Anna Sala, secretary; Barbara Sunyecz, controller. It was so voted. A delicious buffet was prepared by the branch manager and a pleasant time was had by all. Anna R. Sala, secretary Note: These were the last minutes received from Mrs. Sala. She died in February. Many of our fraternal family will remember the dedication of Anna and Ernest Sala, who for many years were the branch manager in Akron. May their memory be blessed to us all. In April, Mrs. Patonai resigned as branch manager after more than six years of service. The new branch manager is Steve Ladich. BRANCH 228, STATEN ISLAND, NY A donation of $5 was sent to the Bethlen Home. At the March meeting, the members observed March 15, 1848. At the April meeting, Charles Toth explained “How is the date of Easter set.” The meeting had been called to order by President Kalman Toth. The opening and closing prayers were given by Charles Toth. At the May meeting, Mother’s Day was observed. Also Memorial Day. Charles Toth read the history of “Taps,” military music bugle call. Charles Toth, secretary BRANCH 181, GRAND RAPIDS, Ml Vigh Gyula osztálykezelő gyásza: Grand Rapids-i osztályunk szinte minden tagja megjelent Vigh Gyula hitvesének, Margaretnek, ravatalánál, akit március 10-én hívott vissza magához az Űr. Koporsójára piros-fehér szekfü koszorút helyezett a tagság, mely megható módon juttatta kifejezésre Vigh Gyula és családja iránt őszinte részvétét. A lelkipásztorok szolgálata után Ko- csondy Zoltán tagtárst mondott szívbemarkoló búcsúbeszédet, érintve a megboldogult tragikus gyermekkorát, példamutató életét, gyermekeinek hitben való nevelését, az 51 évig tartó boldog házaséletet. Az osztály tagjai számontartják a betegeket, rendszeres kórházi látogatást végeznek, gyűléseket tartanak. Március hónapban a Western Michigan Hungarian Clubnak adakoztak az „Erdély” film bemutatására. A magyarországi lajosmizsei református templom renoválására 25 dollárt küldtek. Az áprilisi gyűlésen Vigh Margaret emlékére 50 dollárt adakoztak a kalamazui magyar református egyháznak. Megválasztott tisztviselők — Officers for 1985: Rev. BRANCH 182, FLINT, Ml The May meeting was called to order by branch manager Tibor Nagy who lead the members in prayer. The following were elected officers for 1985: — John Koncz, president; Thomas Fredell, vice-president; Pearl Gyöngyi Fredell, secretary; Sara Nagy, treasurer; Tracy Koncz, controller. Discussion about a branch picnic to be held June 28, 1985 followed. Suggested religious and social events at the picnic were approved. Invitations will be sent to the Hungarian community in the surrounding area. Visitations to hospital and homebound Hungarian shut-ins, were recommended and approved by the officers and membership. The next quarterly business meeting will be July 10th. Pearl G.
