Virgulák, a Vice-President of the Board of Directors, presents a check in the amount of $500.00 to Rev. Paul Kovács and Rev. Imre Bertalan for the Bethlen Home. This check represents a bequest from the estate of her beloved grandmother, the late Mrs. Clara Csik. — At the December meeting, Ernest P. Virgulák, Branch President, announced that his wife, Suzanne, had been elected a Vice-President of the Board of Directors at the HRFA Convention held in September in Ligonier, PA. — Among the donations for 1984, the Branch sent $100.00 to the HRFA Student Aid Fund. For 1985, Branch 52 scheduled three meetings (March, June and December). Officers were elected in March, as follows: Ernest P. Virgulák, president; Joseph Lucskay, vice-president; Suzanne S. Virgulák, recording secretary; Elizabeth Szocs, corresponding secretary; Joseph Singola, treasurer; Andrew Hutkai, comptroller. On March 10th, many branch members joined to welcome Rev. & Mrs. Eugene Z. Szabó to the Hungarian Reformed Church in South Norwalk at an afternoon Tea. On Mother’s Day, the branch helped to defray the expenses of the lona-stemmed carnations given to all ladies attending church services that day. The New England Fraternal Congress Spring Meeting, held in Mansfield, Mass, on June 1st, was attended by Suzanne Virgulák and her husband, Ernest. The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America became the newest member of the New England group, as of November 1984, and Mrs. Virgulák was the delegate from the Federation to this meeting. The Virgulaks were most cordially welcomed by the members of this organization. On Sunday, June 9th, branch officers served coffee and danish pastries to church members during the Coffee Hour between services. At the June meeting of Branch 52, plans were made to sponsor a 4 day/3 nights bus trip in October to Ligonier, PA, with visits to the Bethlen Home and Retirement Cottages. The members who were present indicated that this would be an excellent opportunity for all interested persons to tour the facilities available in Ligonier. An invitation was extended to other HRFA branch members and friends in the area to join us in this endeavor. Branch members mourned the passing of Mrs. Barbara S. Yobbagy (in May) and Louis A. Wargo (in June). Mrs. Yobbagy was the sister of Corresponding Secretary Elizabeth Szocs. Mr. Wargo was the father of Rev. Louis G. Wargo of Spokane, Wash. Several branch officers were present at both funerals. The next regular meeting of Branch 52 is scheduled for Sunday,' December 1, 1985, in the parlor ■of the Hungarian Reformed Church. Election of officers will take place at that time. Suzanne S. Virgulák BRANCH 54, PAUNXSUTAWNEY, PA Members of Branch 54 visited with Mrs. Stephen Toth (Anna), the oldest member. Mrs. Toth has been a member since 1924. Steve Roney was the agent at that time. Mrs. Toth was bom Sept. 1, 1890 in Hungary and lives with a daughter. At age 95, we think that she is the oldest member of our society. Is there anyone older? At the May meeting the following were elected officers for 1985: Alex Roney, president; George S. Roney, vice-president; Beverly London, secretary; Bernadette Roney, treasurer; Paul London, controller.
