Champion of freedom against the Hapsburg opression died in exile in Rodosto, Turkey 250 years ago, on March 27, 1676. „Prince Rákóczi has earned a special place in the hearts of all Americans. His courageous championing of the principles of self-determination, political freedom and religious liberty for the Hungarian nation is reminiscent of the struggle undertaken by our Founding Fathers.” (Part of the message from President Ronald Reagan, addressed to the Commemorative Celebration organized by the American-Hungarian Federation.)
