The Convention also voted that Bela Toth, Margaret Bertalan and Diane Ilakel be given special thanks for their fine work assisting the President in preparation for this Convention. v) The Convention approved the report of the Executive and Organization Committee with thanks for the work accomplished. 31) It was moved and seconded to adjourn the Plenary session a few minutes earlier than it is scheduled in the printed program of the Convention. It was unanimously accepted. The Rev. Miklós Novak conducted the evening devotion and the President adjourned the meeting at 5:00 P.M. IV. Fourth Day, September 20, 1984 32) President opened the plenary session at 9:00 A.M. Rev. Denes Tamas conducted the morning devotions. President Imre Bertalan remembered the tragic events in Beirut, Lebanon and asked Honorary Vice-President Stephen Syposs to lead the Convention in the pledge of alliagance to the flag of the United States of America as a commemoration of the fallen Americans and others in that tragedy. The anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. Albert & Irma Batta was remembered by the President and the Convention. The'•Convention proceeded to celebrate the birthday of Irma Batta and Legal Adviser the Honorable Judge Alex Eger Jr. The President Imre Bertalan greeted the Rt. Rev. Bishop Louis Nagy, a delegate to this Convention on the exact day of the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the holy ministry of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Sárospatak, Hungary. Bishop Nagy thanked the Convention in a moving speech of recollections of his years in the ministry both in the old country and in America, the land of his birth. 33) The roll-call was read by the secretary. All 71 delegates were present. The sad news of the death of the father of Director Joseph Bakty was announced by the President, who conveyed the heartfelt condolences and sympathy of the entire convention to Director Bakty and Airs. Bakty. 34) The Minutes of the previous day’s plenary sessions were read and approved. Delegates Mary Bota, Richard Sarosi and Steve Vajda were asked by the President to attest the minutes with their signatures. 35) The report of the By-Laws Committee were read by the committee’s secretary Director Gabor Csordás. All proposed amendments were read, explained and discussed in length. 36) The discussion of the committee’s report was temporarily halted by the noon recess at 12:00 noon. The Convention reconvened for picture taking at 1:15 P.M. The plenary session was reopened by the President at 1:30 P.M. The reading, explaining and discussing of the By-Laws Committee was continued. 37) It was moved, and seconded to accept the report of the By-Laws Committee as corrected by the Convention of which a copy is attached to these minutes as EXHIBIT XI attested by the signatures of President Imre Bertalan, Director Louis Illés, delegates John K. Morey, Edward Szabó. The motion was unanimously accepted. 38) The President requested Vice-President Dezső Abraham, the chairman of the Finance committee to present the completed report of the said committee. Vice-President Abraham introduced Director George Dózsa, the co-chairman of his committee, who in turn requested Delegate Michael Pennington, secretary of the Finance Committee to read the report of the said committee, which is attached as EXHIBIT XII to these minutes. a) The Convention unanimously accepted the Convention Report of the Treasurer and the report of Koppelman & Eglow and expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Treasurer and released Treasurer Joseph Molnár from his official responsibilities during the past four years. b) The Convention acknowledged the request of the Finance Committee that the Treasurer’s Report for the next convention should include a detailed listing of all liabilities, income, and expenses incurred by the Federation. c) The Convention acknowledged the recommendation of the Finance Committee that the Student Aid Committee should review the amounts given for student aid given to students due to the increasing costs of higher education. d) The Convention approved that a gift of 30.00 dollars per year of service be given by this Convention to all Home Office and Branch Office employees and to the fraternal co-ordinators. Three abstentions: delegates Joseph Able, Ilona Kernes, William Puskas Jr. Edward Szabó voted negative. e) The Convention approved that a gift of $3,500 be given to the members of the Board
