FRATERNITY Page 13 BRANCH 52 - SOUTH NORWALK, CT The first meeting of 1983 was held on Sunday, March 6th in the parlor of the Hungarian Reformed Church, South Norwalk, CT. At this time plans were made to invite Connecticut branch representatives to a meeting to be held on Monday, April 25, 1983. This meeting coincident with the visit of National President, Rev. Imre Bertalan, to the Hungarian Reformed Church for it’s 90th Anniversary celebration held on Sunday, April 24. During the combined communion service, Rev. Bertalan delivered the Hungarian sermon, while Rev. Theodore Horvath, grandson of the late Rev. Gabriel Dokus, first pastor of the church, gave the English sermon. Rev. Horvath, a resident of Pennsylvania, is a member of Branch 52. Branch President, Ernest P. Virgulák presented a check for $90 to the chief-elder of the South Norwalk congregation, Frank A. Dudás, as our Anniversary gift to the church. This presentation took place at the buffet luncheon which followed the church service. ’Pile Monday, April 25th meeting was very successful with Connecticut branch representatives (branch managers and branch presidents), area clergv and officers of Branch 52 attending. We were delighted to have Mrs. Imre Bertalan present with us, also. The purpose of the meeting was to share concerns of the individual branches with Rev. Bertalan; to encourage cooperation between the branches representatives and the clergy; and, to hear about the new compensation system and new portfolio items approved bv the HRFA Board of Directors. In a letter dated April 29, 1983 to Branch Manager, Suzanne S. Virgulák, Rev. Bertalan said, “The number of people present, the discourse and questions that surfaced, were all good. We trust that such dialog will continue at the district meeting May 7th in Passaic.” A luncheon for all guests present, hosted bv Branch 52 followed. The officers of the branch were very pleased to have this opportunity to luring the Connecticut group together as a “family” to discuss mutual concerns. Branch 52 was represented at the district meeting in Passaic, NJ by Branch President Ernest P. Virgulák and Branch Manager, Suzanne S. Virgulák. This also was an excellent opportunity for us to discuss problems, but on a larger scale. On Mother’s Day, ladies of the church were presented with mini-carnations as they entered for church services. Branch 52 shared half of the cost of these flowers. Branch members, their families and friends enjoyed another excursion to Atlantic City. Two one- day trips were held on Tuesday, May 17th and Wednesday, May 18th, with a total of 75 persons taking part. We were saddened to learn of the passing of John Nagy, Branch 1 — Bridgeport, CT who was a branch manager for many years. His funeral was held on August 30, 1983 and Branch 52 was represented by Suzanne S. Virgulák, Mr. and Mrs. William Sontra. Also attending were Rev. Imre Bertalan, National President and William Puskas, Fraternal Coordinator — East Coast. Suzanne and Ernest Virgulák travelled to Ligo- nier, PA to attend the two-day seminar on September 2 & 3 of the Field Force. On Wednesday, September 7 they attended the annual meeting of the Bethlen Home Board of Directors. The fall meeting of Branch 52 will be held on Sunday, September 11 and the annual meeting is scheduled for Sunday, December 4. The election of officers will take place at that time. S. V.
