FRATERNITY Page 9 BRANCH LIFE BRANCH 2 - CLEVELAND, OH ELIZABETH LENGYEL GALGANY 1910-1983 Excerpts from article written by daughters, Bettié and Elaine. Elizabeth Lengyel Gal- gam was born in Cleveland of immigrant parents and was intensely proud of her Hungarian heritage. She taught Hungarian folk dances; starred in hundreds of operettas; assisted hundreds in beginning their new lives in the Cleveland area; worked for numerous charities, including our own Bethlen Home; conducted tours throughout the United States, Canada and Hungary; was an active member and officer of many organizations, including President of Branch 2 of the HRFA, Cleveland; she was active in church and community. A recipient of many civic awards, Mrs. Galganv was most honored by the Congressional Certificate of Achievement Award in 1979 for her personal contribution as an outstanding citizen to the community, the State and the Nation. Although in bodv she is gone, the memory of her life, her vitality, her talents, her devotion to family and friends, her unremitting love, will remain as long as those who knew her are here to remember. Her dauntless spirit will live forever in eternal life. * August 27th gave a beautiful day to our branch and some of its members, along with area agents and managers at a picnic afternoon at the First Hungarian Reformed Church lawn. Reverend Stephen Nagy, along with our Director William Aros and his lovely wife Emma, helped to participate in the fellowship while enjoying the most delicious salona and fresh kolbász. Personal thanks to all who assisted Mrs. Lucy Szabó in food preparation and also to Steve Peti of Alliance who sent us a taste of whole, cured cabbage which was savored especially by our senior members. One in particular commented that the kaposta alone OSZTÁLY ÉLET was worth coming for, let alone all the other fine food. An enjoyable afternoon was had bv all. Preparations are upcoming at the next meeting to prepare for a card party to support the Student Aid Fund. Mav we find the direction for continued success!
