The picture shows the work started on the print shop to make it a meeting room with 170 seating capacity. The ground floor will be remodeled for a library, museum and archive. The second floor will be remodeled for the office of the Bethlen Home and two apartments for retired married couples. We hope to hold the plenary sessions of the 1980 Convention in the ground level air-conditioned meeting room. The estimated $100,000 cost for remodeling had to be exceeded because of the unexpected higher cost of equipment. Model Unit of two apartments It is planned for retired married couples or single persons. The apartment contains a modern kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, livingroom, ample closet space, wall to wall carpeting, electric washer and dryer, intercom-emergency telephone call system and separate garage with storage space. Mini-bus service available for shopping. Sunday worship services held in the chapel. All the retired persons may participate in the activity programs of the Nursing Home. At time of illness “tray service” available from the Nursing Home. Meeting room and library available for reading and recreation. An “Open House” is scheduled to be held by the construction company on April 19th and 20th. Everyone is invited to attend. The apartments are being built on the top of the hill giving a beautiful view of Ligonier Valley. Persons interested please contact Rev. Paul Kovács administrator in Ligonier, Pa. (Zip: 15658) The construction of the first model unit exceeded the original estimated cost because the Board of Managers felt that the bedroom and living- room should be larger, extra closet space and the two garages separated and enlarged for storage space. Our Springdale branch No. 197 at the annual meeting raffled a gift donated by Mrs. Steve Üveges. The proceeds were mailed to the Bethlen Home. The members set August 17th as a tentative date to charter a bus to visit the Bethlen Home. Our Springdale branch has a continuous commendable record for supporting the Bethlen Home and the Student Aid and Loan Fund of the HRFA. Our South Norwalk branch No. 52 donated $25.00 toward the Christmas Party of the Sunday School. They also asked for 50 ball point pens from the National Secretary of the Federation to be given to the teachers and pupils of the Sunday School. Mr. William Sontra president and Mr. Andrew Kurimai branch manager urged the members to make a special project to help the 1980 bazaar of the Bethlen Home. All the church organizations will be contacted and urged to participate in the worthy charitable project. April 1, 1980 has been officially designated Census Day by the United States Census Bureau. On or about this date, all U.S. families will receive their census form in the mail. Forms are to be completed and returned, also by mail. After which Census takers will make personal visits to those who are delinquent. The primary purpose of the every-ten-year census is defined by the United States Constitution that requires that a population count be undertaken to provide a base for reapportioning among the states the seats in the House of Representatives. It will also provide the basis for distributing $50 billion a year Remodeling the “Print Shop” in Federal aid. 5
