were present. The branch members also were active in the 1979 project for the benefit of the bazaar of the Bethlen Home. The members went to Ligonier in spite of the gas shortage to give a helping hand in the kitchen and the sale of hand made craft articles. Our Fairport Harbor branch 3 and our Ashtabula branch 39 managed by Albert Oris and assisted by Mrs. Emma Oris section manager held a picnic on July 29th at the Painesville Township Park attended by 600 persons. The music was furnished by Frank Borisz and his Continental Orchestra. Rev. Paul Kantor, pastor publicized the event from the pulpit and the church bulletin. The Mary-Martha Guild of the Fairport Harbor Hungarian Church made 500 lbs. of Hungarian sausage (kolbász). The ladies of branch 3 made 900 Hungarian stuffed cabbage and Hungarian pastries. Mrs. Emma Oris, chairlady was assisted by the commendable services of Margaret Markus, Elizabeth Pucsok, Mary Lesiacsek, Jim and Helen Oris, Barney and Bridget Katona, Jim and Elizabeth Varga and her daughter Mrs. Dawn D. Ward, manager of branch 2, Cleveland, Ohio. From the proceeds $500 was donated to our Bethlen Home and $100 to our Student Aid and Loan Fund. The Calvin Synod, Conference of the United Church of Christ at the spring annual meeting held in Bridgeport, Connecticut elected the following officers for a two year period: Rt. Rev. Desmond D. Parragh bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. John Butosi deputy bishop, Rev. Zoltán Király secretary, Rev. Miklós Novak treasurer and Mr. Elmer Charles — president of the William Penn Association. At the banquet the following persons received recognition from Bishop Butosi for their dedicated Christian work and outstanding church services: Dr. Joseph Piri presented by Rt. Rev. Stephen Szabó; Rev. Anthony Szabó presented by the Rt. Rev. Desmond D. Parragh; and Mr. Charles Toth chief-elder presented by Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz. Four District meetings were held in Cleveland, Ohio; Duquesne, Pa.; Indiana Harbor, Ind.; and Woodbridge, N.J. All were well attended by the local members of our Field Force, branch managers, agents and the clergy. We were pleased to have at the luncheons beside the Hungarian Reformed clergyAfr. Steve üveges men, the local roman catholic, greek catholic and lutheran pastors as our guests. It is a symbol of ecumenicity. The four National Officers were present at the four district meetings and they made the presentations of their respective departments.
