The church leaders pledged their support to use their influence to have human rights guaranteed to the largest ethnic minority in Europe. On September 7, 1977 Bishop Louis Nagy after nine years of service resigned from the administrator position of the Bethlen Home effective February 1, 1978. His resignation was unanimously accepted by the Board of Directors of the Bethlen Home. On January 24th the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy married Katherine Galantay in the Bethlen Chapel in Ligonier, Pa. The marriage ceremony was performed by his two school mates and lifelong friends: Dr. László Harangi and Dr. Zoltán Beky, Bishop Emeritus. The best man was Mr. László Eszenyi, Executive Vice-president of the HRFA. Rev. Louis Dies was the vocalist, organist and photographer. The reception was held in the dining room of the Children's Home. From February 1, the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy is serving the Hungarian Reformed Church in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania as pastor. From the list of survivors and relatives the following names should have been included: Sister: Mrs. Mary Yuh asz of Pasadena, California. The Board of Managers of the Bethlen Home authorized the President and the Administrator to sign all the necessary documents related to the offer of the Unionvale Coal Co. on February 1, 1978 if no written offer is submitted by the denominations to use the Children’s Home buildings as a church center. The, purchase of the property is pending on the requested variance from the Ligonier Borough Zoning ordinance. According to the Latrobe Bulletin’s February 18th issue: “The Ligonier Borough Planning Committee has endorsed the property transfer and will recommend that the variance be granted.” In case of approval the settlement date will be on or before April 1, 1978. After the building will be sold, plans should be made for a church and retirement center, archive, library and museum adjacent to the present Nursing Home building. In April, 1976 the Board of Directors of the Bethlen Home elected Rev. Paul Kovács, pastor of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church in Sharon, Pennsylvania the assistant- administrator of the Bethlen Home. He started to work in his position on July 1, 1976. He was instructed to prepare for the examination of the Administrator license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He passed the examination in October, 1977. The Board of Managers authorized Rev. Paul Kovács to sign all checks of the Bethlen Home with the President in January, 1978. On February 1, 1978 he became the Secretary- Treasurer and the administrator of the Bethlen Home. Since the Bethlen Home operates with an annual one million dollar budget and its services are connected with the welfare department of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the federal government, beginning January 1, 1978 the financial books, the income and disbursements will be audited by a C.P.A.
