The Portland String Quartet invites you to a unique Summer Session for Strings — The Third Annual String Quartet Workshop at Sugarloaf Mountain near Kingfield, Maine, offers a lively and diversified program for beginning, inter­mediate and advanced applicants. Rehearsals, master classes, and coaching sessions are conducted daily by members of the Portland String Quartet. The workshop runs from July 23rd to August 5th and is limited to 32 players. A limited number of partial or full scholarships may be awerded on the basis of musical ability and financial need. For those concerned, three units of credit are being offered by the University of Maine at Portland-Gorham for this workshop. HUNGARIAN SCOUT ASSOCIATION The editor received a circular from the Hun­garian Scout Association dated April, 1978. It was an appeal to subsidize their Sik Sándor Scout Park in Fiimore, N.Y. It is located 60 miles west of Buffalo, N.Y. In order to continue the Hungarian Scout work the Association needs $30,000 to comply with the requests of the laws of New York State. During the past 15 years mope than 2,000 scouts received instruc­tions and diplomas. The long list of deficiencies contain such violations as: 1. building new roads and repair of present roads; 2. must drill a new well and the present wells must meet the standards made mandatory by law; 3. new septic tanks must be installed; 4. showers must have hot and cold water out­lets; 5. All fire hazards must be eliminated in the present barracks; 6. The central kitchen must be enlarged and with the clinic meet the requirements of health standards.
