ELMER E. VARGO: From the OFFICE of the SECRETARY At the time of writing this article, final arrangements are being made to move into our temporary quarters. An article on this with full details appears elsewhere in this publication. We are making every effort to carry on the work with as little disruption in service as possible- If for some reason you encounter an unusual delay in any matter, please call it to our attention. I am certain that this article on the sale of the Kossuth House will put to rest the many rumors that had been circulated. We are looking to the future with great expectations and envision another Kossuth House that will serve our needs in the Fraternal Life Insurance field. With the summer months approaching, we are hopeful that our Field Force members will write the additional insurance to meet their quota requirements. In our production we felt the long, hard winter. Review your prospect lists and make your contacts to give them the financial security required for their loved ones. Our heartfelt condolences have been expressed to Mrs. Elizabeth Nagy on the death of her husband, Joseph who was the Branch Manager of Branch 113 in Franklin, N. J. The duties to the membership are being carried on by Mrs. Nagy. We extend our best wishes to Mr. George Mitter- man who resigned as Manager of Branch 136 and welcome into our Federation Family, Mr. Andrew Szüle of Poughkeepsie, N. Y. Our New Jersey District Meeting was held on May 13th in New Brunswick. It was a very informative and instructional meeting for our Field workers. The emphasis was stressed to know your product and get your story to the people as there are many that are not members of the Federation, but they should be members. At this meeting Meritorious Service Awards were presented to two faithful, loyal and long time Branch Managers, Rev. László Hunyady, Branch 313, Linden and Mr. Steve Wargo, Branch 266, Roebling. May they continue in promoting the work of the Federation. We have been involved in fraternal and charitable undertakings since our founding in 1896. The Federation was chartered by the Congress of the United States on March 7, 1907 under the Presidency of Theodore Roosevelt. Our many plans of insurance are available to all eligible applicants from the age of 0 to 65. Look for those who are not members and tell them the Federation story. Our forefathers left us an organization of which we are proud and look with pride to our heritage and our many accomplishments. This is what we must get across to our prospects and solicit their membership. This will enable us to progress and build our Federation for generations to follow. ☆ ☆ NATIONAL FLAG DAY a date to remember The Federation is joining with ninety-four other Fraternal Life Insurance Societies in observing Fraternal Week, June 8-14 as announced by the National Fraternal Congress of America. The special emphasis is placed on National Flag Day, June 14th. All of these societies, more than ten million, are urging their membership to remember this day and that a rebirth of patriotism is needed to focus worldwide attention on the enduring values of our free society. In a 1917 Flag Day message, President Wood- row Wilson said: “This flag which we honor and under which we serve, is the emblem of our unity, our power, our thought and purpose as a nation. It has no other character than that which we give it from generation to generation. The choices are ours.” Fly your flag on June 14th with pride for the symbol that it represents and that we may live forever in the “land of the free and the home of the brave.” (E.E.V.) 7
