In this capacity I make the following recommendations: a. By-laws be completely revised and amended as the fundamentally changed situation demand it; b. In order to secure more income and cut expenses a special committee be appointed to conduct a thorough investigation and submit its report to both boards; c. The services of an EDP firm be retained to prepare the payroll and automate bookkeeping. d. Hungarian Summer School be held in a camp-like setting. Such camp may be purchased or rented. o-o-o I could cope with the diversified duties of my department and the Treasurer’s office only with the able and willing help of the employees. I use this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to Mrs. Katalin Paschke, secretary and claim adjustor; Dr. Zoltán Korossy, machine operator and statistican; Mr. Tibor Baksy, my excellent senior bookkeeper; Mrs. Katalin Galanthai-Nagy, Miss Elizabeth Nagy and Mrs. Adrienne Vegh, bookkeepers. With the resignation and retirement of Mrs. Katalin Galanthai-Nagy, I lost an outstanding worker. We gained a very fine replacement in Mrs. Eliz Pota. I also wish to extend my thanks and appreciation to Miss Elizabeth Balazs and Mrs. Irene Simon whose loyal and outstanding help I was lucky to enjoy during the extended substitutions for the Treasurer. At the end of this term we are losing a few of our fine leaders and will greet our new fellow directors. I extend my thanks and grateful appreciation to the Members of the old Board for their understanding and cooperation in the past and I hope to get the same support from you all, gentlemen, who will hold this responsible office during the coming crucial years. Respectfully submitted by: László L. Eszenyi Controller JOHNSTOWN FLOODS PLAGUE AREA It was with the utmost sorrow that we read and heard about the plight of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania residents. Constant rain for eight hours swelled the creeks and they overflowed their hanks. Many communities were isolated, almost repeating the devastation of the famous Johnstown Flood of 1889. We feel a great concern for not only our members in the Johnstown and Windber area, but also for the many other residents who have been faced witli personal and financial loss. It is tragic to see the dreams of a lifetime wiped out and ruined in such a short period of time by the ravaging waters of the brooks and streams. In this regard, we would like to make an appeal to our entire membership for assistance to help those unfortunate people in these flooded towns. All donations consisting of staples, blankets and clothes should be turned in to your local Red Cross chapter and have the boxes marked “FLOOD VICTIMS IN THE JOHNSTOWN, PA. AREA.” All cash donations should be sent to the Home Office marked in the same manner and this will be forwarded to the area. Now is the time for us to come to the aid of our brethren and show the real meaning of Fraternalism through Christian love and understanding for those that are less fortunate than we ourselves.
